Looking at a new directional-

I read a Ben wilson article on seabreeze stating to get a board 2" taller than you,

Have you guys found this to be true fo your favourtie boards?

i'm interested in what width is recommended and thickness. I'm 5'7"

i just bought a surfboard that's 5'11 × 18 1/2 × 2 1/2 , not sure if it is ideal but it was cheap while i find an epoxy one.

Do most people use epoxy for big strapless airs or do you (like i am going to ) put an extra layer of cloth on my board.

Hey, what do you mean by big air? Jumping.off the back of the wave or punting while riding the wave. If your jumping off the back and landing Flat a epoxy board is def the go as I doubt glass board will handle that. I currently ride a bws drifter and baby it when landing. If I am landing in the flats I bail the board. When on my naish global epoxy (heavy as a boat but super strong) I'll commit to almost any landing.
With height it always depends on width. Most new modern surfboards and kiteboard have increased width and thickness (flatter rocker also) and you can ride them 2_4 inches smaller. These boards rock in the smaller waves. If you have good clean waves I'd say go 2 or four inches taller, once again depending on width.
I am 80_85 kg and 180 cm and ride 5_9 by 20 fun boards or 6 2 standard boards in surf.
