Hey all, i've noticed the depower line attached to my chicken loop is starting to wear a bit. What i'm wondering is when you replace this, can you just replace that section of rope or do you have to replace the entire chicken loop?

Depends entirely on your bar & lines. Some allow the depower rope alone to be replaced, some need the entire chicken loop assembly to be replaced as well.

What kite, bar & lines are you using?

I have been using Slingshots 'Drylube' and it has so far been working a treat. I, for some reason, always seem to be constantly wearing CL lines and am constantly replacing them. So far no sign of wear since applying the drilube.

As" brian bear" said surfboard wax works well.I got over 12 mths from a slingshot chicken loop buy melting the wax and running your chicken loop through it,wheras a mates chicken loop only lasted 3 mths.Same kite, same chicken loop.

I always used to melt candle wax in an empty can and the dunk the grey amsteel line in it, then pull it tight while the wax is still hot/liquid, worked very well, except it would still get sand stuck to it.

I cannot get this stuff in bulk yet and its not a pimp opportunity, but I am very impressed with the "beal" line that comes with the new Ozone kites. Ozone say it will last the life of the kite, and so far it looks like it will.
We can get the chicken loop with a metre of beal line as a spare part.
