Just flew into NZ for a two week kite trip and was told on arrival that Qantas don't know where my bag is,.. awesome.
Brand New Vanguard and Sci-fi which has touched the water once along with a couple of 2016 kites and other miscellaneous gear,. Best part was I didn't buy insurance,. So happy right now.

This is the second time Qantas has lost my bag this year and the third full stop,.. never again!!!

Did you pay for the flights or any of the trip with a credit card? You may have insurance through that. No idea what that can cover though.

Had the same experience last year on a trip to the Uk. Arrived in London with nothing but the clothes on my back. Took them over a week to find and courier it to me. Didn't even bother to give any form of apology nor any compensation for the inconvenience. Never flying Qantas again. Rant over, thanks for listening.

Had exactly the same happen to me. They found it after 12 hours and were pretty good about it, but yep, it's annoying!!

Happens almost every trip: bags "lost" or bashed up so badly they require replacement. Amazing how nobody is responsible...

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.....change airlines if you fly a lot they don't deserve your loyalty and you will get status pretty quickly on another airline. In fact if you call Virgin and explain things to them they may even give you status based on your Qantas points.

Qantas is falling, slowly but surely...

www.abc.net.au/news/2014-09-01/verrender-is-qantas-too-big-to-fail/5709128

And what you're going to have to fill in, incase it happens to you...

www.qantas.com.au/infodetail/flying/atTheAirport/lost-damaged-baggage-claim-form.pdf

So be prepared for headaches.

I'd love to be failing that badly making a $1,540,000,000 profit.
Re baggage should be around $80 per day incidental allowance payable. if $30 per kg or $1600 total doesn't cover your gear, you have the option of taking out insurance. Muck like freight or postage there is a risk. It absolutely sucks when it doesn't turn up on your limited holidays. Trouble with a lot of overseas destinations is it's third party handlers that have nothing to do with airline. The Lakey peak baggage mafia sting $100-200.
Did you get it back ok Gaz or have you permanently lost bags 3 times. If so that sucks big time and I would be super pissed to. You need to personally contact someone higher up the chain if possible. Try and get the staff on your side and ask to get a note on your profile about mishandling. May get you some good luck in future.

Yep, there is some sort of compensation like this BUT when I returned the Sydney from working in Canada for a year, all my bags went missing for a couple of weeks. I got no compensation because I was returning "home".

I was pretty annoyed to say the least as pretty much everything I owned (or at least used regularly) was in those bags and as I was straight into job hunting, I had no suits, shirts, dress shoes to wear to interviews, as well as having to purchase all toiletries etc.

Pretty inconvenient and the bags turned up by courier without even a "sorry about that".

Yeah, happy end after all. Got my bags yesterday around 9.
It was probably a blessing in disguise as ld had close to zero hrs sleep between flying home from work and so on. It gave me a rest night before getting into it today. (Bar the 20 pints with some awesome local)
Definitely needed my wits about me today, as it was solid double head, gusting over 30 knots,. hectic at times and very humbling but super pumped!!
When I finish the trip I'll post a report as this place is off the chain,. Not just the kiting but all round amazing.

Hey kitebt, totally agree but I don't book the flights, work does.

In regards to calling up the chain,. Well that was the thing that was making me loose my sh#t,. Call every number a trillion times and couldn't get an answer. I would ring the booking lines and try that way but they would just hang up, keep transferring to the same number etc. It got to the point where I just drove to the airport so I could speak to someone.
At one stage I had to giggle as I thought about putting in a complaint about the complaints department to complaints department. ( To raise my rage the whole time I was checking the forecast reading 5m swell and 35knots,. Just banging my head against a wall)

Remember When quantas grounded their fleet and stranded thousands of families
Do you really think they give a fark
After doing that I swore I'd never fly with that airline
Joyce is a little c'''t was at Ryan air also
Got me f''''''d why anyone would travel with them
Asian based airlines know how to treat customers
Virgin arnt bad also imho

Joyce has ruined what was once a worlds great airline. I will NEVER fly them again. Greedy piece of work. grrrrrrrr. Always pay for tickets with a gold card, always have insurance through it. We travel a lot. Have had to claim twice, always paid....Allianze is one of the insurance underwriters, and QBE is another. Have never had any issues with claims
