Hey so I've just recently change from straps to boots and finding darkslides a bit difficult to pull off nicely.
Recommendations?
I'm thinking it's tricky with the restrictiveness of boots so could maybe try loosening off the laces to free up the ankles a bit?
Perhaps I've been laying them out too flat and cant get away with that shut no more?
Cheers
Chris
I've never done a darkslide. Nor have I worn boots. So speaking from a wealth of experience I think you might break your ankle if you loosen your laces

Nah
I don't ever do the laces on my boots, i have them loose enough that I can slip them on and off and knotted them.
Although loosening your boots just to do a darkslide seems like kind of a silly idea to me
Yeah look I suppose I am just looking for some tips from somebody that might be able to help out. I can still do them, just finding the finesse a bit more difficult without being able to move ankles.
My laces come loose because they are those toggle things, but I prefer them tight. So wouldn't specifically loosen them for this trick, but hey maybe it makes a difference.
So if you can shed some constructive light on this I'd be appreciative.

I switched to boots 3 years ago and yes, you slightly need to adjust your technique but that does not mean you lose in style. Quite the opposite: you can put more power into the trick. Keep practicing and it will come. I would not recommend loosing the laces.

I didn't find it made a difference at all maybe it makes you lie more flat to the water to get the same angle of contact.

im using Ronix parks with the same sorta 'toggle thingy's"......
i was pretty much re-tightening both top & bottom laces every few minutes while riding. guess it's works fine for wakeboarding with short & quick runs, but they suck for kiting when the laces loosen.tried to come up with a solution, and i used an extra lace toggle on top of the original ones. Just pinched the toggles from an old waterproof jacket, but locks them in perfect!! Originally used metal ones, but they corroded so swapped them to plastic.Havnt had them come loose since!!Only downside was it made the laces a little shorter, which makes it a pain getting them on & off, so swapped the laces to some spare bridle line i had to make them a little longer. Works perfect!if your boots sh** you to tears from coming loose, give them bad boys a crack!
No need to loosen your boots. Just get your body as low to the water as possible and the board will follow.

Good tip there! Ronix do a newer lace lock that I tried it's a cam lock style so the more pressure you put on them the tighter they get. Can't say they are 100% the actual lace seems to be the problem with them not grabbing first go but just get them wet and wriggle around and re tighten and they have never come loose and I'm out for upwards of two hours straight some days. Think they cost me 25 bucks for the locks and new laces
