Morning all,

Just curious but I was just writing my experience with a certain bar and a few cool features of other bars came to mind. I was recently chatting to a guy who had made his own custom bar to his liking and it made me think; has any of you bastardised key features of numerous bars to make one awesome bar? If so show us what you came up with. I would like my BWS and core to have a love child personally.

(cant believe I'm asking dudes on the internet to show me their bars)

What are the features you want in a bar,

What is missing or do you like in the BWS and Core bar?

In another threat about the core sensor pro2 I wrote how good the features were such as it lightness being made of carbon, the auto un-swivel is amazing and the easily adjustable line lengths are another good feature. But cosmetically I'm not a fan, hate the grips, colour and I hate hard bar ends (well my surfboard does). Additionally the release system is pretty average also. So if you could combine the grip and bar ends and chicken loop off a BWS bar with the un-swivel features etc of the core you would have a pretty sweet set up.

The reason for my original post was I was just curious as to if anyone had experimented changing their bar's. I remember a while ago chatting to a guy at Pt Walter and he showed me his custom, reinforced, different grip etc. People pretty much customise everything these days and as the bar is our main feedback with kiting I was just interested to see who and what mods guys have done.

I have been working on a bar for some time, not every one agrees on features, most people want soft bar ends, not everyone wants PU covered center lines, some want a short throw, some want a long throw, some want a 5th line etc. I have a bar at the moment that does all this, it's easily tuned and set to what the person wants. Its always good to hear what is wanted in a bar for different riders.

I think you are on the money there, it needs to be universal and adaptable.

There are some pretty custom bars in the attached video,. love the part halfway through where a very young Pete Cabrina is talking about weather kites will be able to wave ride in the future :)

I liked that loucifer waiman was meeting up with corey rossler at the gorge.

Also , "some people were using hangglider wings" so so close to todays performance paragliding wings that dominate the race scene yet so so sooooo far away from the delta hangys they had. Fyi paragliders had been around least a decade since that video.

Bar customisation always works better with 2 beers. Gets the creativity flowing. NOT THREE! things get funky after three.
Seriously though, combining features is a norm and easily done if you put your mind to it. THE BWS bar is by far my favorit but iv moded mine a little too

Curious to hear what is good about the BWS undertow bars? Does it have soft bar ends?

isn't there like 3 or 4 companies using the same identical bar as the BWS undertow ??
shame about the Poo tube! ..... I like my stopper ball when im feeling lazy!

anybody else got that auto swivel in the QR and liking it??
never have to worry about how my lines are twisted, just loop out my steering lines, sheet in and it's all un-twisted! Not to mention how clean all the lines look without all the clutter from the swivel. So much easier to work on, modify, or customize. LOVE IT !!
Cant understand why QR swivels aren't the industry standard. Nobody can say that having a weight bouncing around halfway up their lines is going to make the kite fly better or be more responsive. interested to hear from other people who use the QR swivel and what their feedback is.

Depower is over rated, trim on the other hand....different story.

Probably easier to get away with no trim on a wave kite.

I've copied the BRM ccs design but put a sliding stopper on to limit the throw (if needed).
If I don't like it, I'll put the cleat back on.

Its a very clean bar mate. Wont get in the way. Wave bars should always be as simple as possible. Gives you more time to concentrate on the wave. The grip is supper comfy and yes it has soft bar ends. I personally would like to see the saftey line incorporated into the pu tube one day but im sure bws would need to wait till the patent by cabrinha runs out.

How have you rigged up the quick release in the second pic?

Green ball is pushaway for a front line flag
Red ball is pull for full release

There is a swivel on the ronstan pulley, tested it today and it worked fine but it does add some length - you could use a low friction ring instead.

Not sure about not having a cleat yet.

If you don't unhook you never need a de-power strap.
