Hey fellas in the future I wanna add one more kite to my quiver, I've got a Zephyr, and a 12 cat and I'm thinking a 7 or 8 metre for those extra windy days say 25 plus
Any recommendations I'm thinking going for early models nothing below 2010 coz they are cheap and I don't mind mixing up the brand I prefer no pulley bridles tho
Some suggestions would help
Cheers

Ps I'm 65kg

Glokite,

I think an 8m Cat would work well. Going for a 7 is too much of a gap IMHO. 8 will get going at 25 nicely and should compliment your quiver well - plus you can use the bars you already have. We have a 2013 8m Cat that's essentially brand new at KP Sydney for $750 kite only '

Cheers,
Elliot

8m for days of 25 knots plus weighing in at 65kg is way off target for Perth conditions. A 6m or less would be a better starting point for the described wind strength and weight.

hmmm. but 10m is such a sweet size.

my call

keep the zep, sell the 12 cat and but an 10m, 8m cats.

Make your 8m the newest and least worn out kite because you will take it out in the most extreme conditions.

oh dang just read your weight 65kg... you might want to consider a 6m for 25+ days. definitely sell the 12.

Keep in mind I live in broome subtropics

Plummet as for the 12 cat it's pretty good depower so I handled it pretty good from 20 gusting 28s at times it can be a bit much but I just deal with it. We had awesome winds last weekend and most were out on 10s and some on 7s and 9 of course edges. loved it when it boost me up nicely awesome kite

Cauncy ya prick stop saying that about the edge!!!!!!!! Damn naggit!

Hey any one want to swap a brand new 2013 8m cat for a 7m edge?

Anyhow glowkite man...

Yeh the broome wind lacks punch hey, so you have the right quiver IMO so far.

So I'm 75kg right and the cat does indeed have a lot of bottom end. Grunty bottom end at that.

With perth winds I can be out in anything above 20, but of course why would I waste those winds when I could be on my 10m edge. But if waves are aorund its the cat. Had it out in 25 to 30 (winter winds) and to be quite honest I wouldn't want to take it out in anymore than that.

So I think the 8m advice is a good one. You don't need a 6 up there for those two days you might use it before a cyclone just hits the shore! Taking into account your weight and the winds up there. If you were my weight or larger I'd say settle on the 10m so you can fit right into the sweet spot when the wind is at it's best.

Then again.... would you rather have an 8m that can be useful when the wind blows real strong...not many days of the year. Or would you like to have that 12/10 combo to really dial in those 17 to 25 knot days where the best kiting is to be found.

Food for thought.

and stick with ozone.

Yeh with you on that just you get addicted to the edges, very powerful and incredibly quick on the water speed, but all very smoothly delivered

I'm 82 bottles of red and my 7m rebel would be used 80% of the summer time in wa. But then I kite mostly in wa Midwest.
