I am looking for a new kite and have spotted these two kites in the buy and sell and am just wondering how they fair up against each other, both are second hand but in "NEW" condition and both are 12m. The Cult doesn't come with the smart loop but it is possible for me to get it included. The Rebel comes with an 07 bar. I am a 16 year old a beginner and weigh around 75kg. Atm i can do small jumps but am progressing quickly. I currently ride a 07 9m Rebel and love it! (although i haven't tried many other kites). I ride in Flat water, chop and occasionally waves. How do these kites go un-hooked? I know people will tell me to demo them, but seeing as i will be buying second hand do not want to. If anyone can give me the low down on these kites it would be appreciated (and yes i have read numerous reviews on both these kites.) I am also looking at the Rev and the LF havocs and HiFi's...
Thanks in advance!
I am not a very experienced kite surfer.
I only started last winter and I bought all of my gears here in Seabreeze.
I bought a 13m Fuel and an 8m Best Nemesis for start.
I has so much trouble to water relaunch my SS and it was so hard for me as a beginner to go upwind.
I was surfing for 5mins and then I had to walk back for 30mins.
Then I sold my kites and I paid a little extra and I bought a 12m Helix (Helix and Cult are similar, the only difference is two extra struts on Helix).
The sigma series have one big problem, once you try them you will not ride any other kite.
Some one stole my Helix one month ago and I didn't even think about buying any thing but Helix.
Sigma series are wonderful in water relaunch super easy for going upwind and you can have high jumps.
I heard that sigma kite do not have a long hang time, but I'm not in a level to confirm or reject it.
Try to get it with smart loop, its better.
Cheers
Alex
I have ridden both and it depends what you are looking for. The cult with the smart loop and the rebel both have amazing wind range, the rebel has a nicer size to its jump and seems to work better for wave riding.
If you want to unhook which I am very new to the havoc seems super stable and easy compared to my switchblade,
that's my 2 cents worth anyway...
My 2 cents:
Have a try before you buy. Each will be slightly different and since your still learning you may prefer one over the other.
Since you already have the 9m rebel, I'd just stick with the rebels.
I've got the revs and love em. They are a very forgiving, smooth kite with a water relaunch that is second to none (much better than the rebels). And they boost big!
Depending what bar you are used to, you may find the rev bar heavy and cluttered, but I like bells and whistles.
