Did it on the 9m and the 12m yesterday. Doing the 16 today

Love it on the 12 turns faster and no presure to really speak of Also great on the 9 to remove the presure but makes it even quicker in the sky than before will get use to it though

All in all very happy with the results we used the Reily pullies as the Ronstan ones were out of stock and 2mm spectra line.

We were out for 3 hours yesterday and no sore arms on return, prior to this I was coming in after 2 with sore elbows

Hey Terry - Off to Maui eh? You lucky pri*k. I'm so green.

Try the mod and enjoy. I have had nothing but positive feedback.

Found two more prospective converts out at Wavebreak Island today stuggling with the "non existant" bar pressure.

They will convert this week.

Smash those waves at Maui and let us know haow you go.

Yep Duke.

I'm on to it.

Thought I could borrow one of Paulio's Nan's walking frames and fit a couple of bungee cords to it incorporating a spinlock cleat, a sliding rubber stopper ball and a few more pulleys.

We could attach it to the Bimini on the Bridge Deck with an old Slingshot line set and use it to tow guys on 2000 model Stonker Directionals.

With an outgoing tide and the boat doing 8 knots it should rock next time we take the Maggie Zee up to the pin.

You Idiot Paulio

Hasn't anyone told you that laying in the back of your work ute on top of a Crossbow sucking tinnies of Victoria Bitter does not ACTUALLY count as kiting.

The only bar pressure you understand is when the barmaid asks you to pay for your Nan's flagon each morning. And can you please tell her to stop ringing me up at 2am.

Hey Pauloz

I spoke to a local kiter yesterday who has just returned from 6 months in Melbourne. He reckons that Pete Cabrinha must be driving a Bentley by now judging by the number of Crossbows down there. He reckons they are just about in plague proportions.

Hope you can catch up with as many as possible to show them the mod.

Hope you are settling back into work after the break up here. Come back soon. Thanks heaps for your help.

Still can't fathom the various posts on other forums denying the existance of troublesome bar pressure. WTF ???

Perhaps the effect would be the same...add 2 pullies and you should half the pressure as you now have 4......I thunk

the td has an on the fly stopper ball so bar pressure is not an issue it is imo by far the best bar setup of any of the bow kites

Not sure if anyone thought of this but the modification adds extra length to the ront lines due to the addition of the pully - unless you deducted its length from your lines.

This will explain a few of the comments on appearing to have slightly more power and that you can now rest the bar on the stopper without if starting to fall from the sky. And the desire for some to use a different knot for the back lines

I don't think it is really that much of a big deal for most people but by doing this we have added about 2-3 cm to the front line

I tried the modification on my 16 and noticed two things. Yes, the bar pressure is significantly less, but the kite also has less loft and pull. I think the static connection involved is designed to control the load onto the two lines coming off it, delivering more tension towards the centre of the kite, making the kite fly flatter. I seem to notice the kite looks more folded now.

I believe it is a trade off, but probobly well worth it for most, as it's all about pleasure.

I've also tried one step further and replaced the next "two into one" junction (above and towards the centre) with a pulley. This takes the effect another step lighter and less power. (wouldn't recommend it.)

These kites are designed in a wind tunnel, so they wouldnt be able to instantly test how the kite turns, as they would be able to test the static forces. I'd love to hear someone from Cabrinha R&D comment on this.

Hi Marty

Have had heaps of emails regarding the bridle change. All report far less bar pressure especially with the 16M Bow. A few have commented that they felt that there was slightly less power. Some have reported that by making small adjustments to the pigtail lengths that the power returned. It could be caused by slightly misjudging the length of line required to make the fix.

Also a few have reported that after riding for some time with the modification that they have adapted to the lighter pressure and believe that they may have been oversheeting due to the much lighter bar pressure than before. I certainly found this in my case. Having said that my elbows have not stopped thanking me !!!

I, like you, would like to here CAB's R&D dept make some comment on these points.
