We were heading back to Mackay from Nationals on the weekend and stumbled across a beautiful flooded cow paddock along the highway that we thought would be great to try for a sunset ride. We pulled up on the side of the road and in a rage of excitement grabbed some gear and camera and started trecking towards the water.
This place was made for it. Grassed area for pumping and packing and glassy water with surrounds like nothing else.
Luke jumped in and went for a run into the middle pulling of a few moves and started heading back in, when suddenly we hear this almighty scream from behind us....![]()
In the distance, standing by my car was a bloke chucking a fit of anger, screaming at us to come to him. I left the guys to pack up and approached the bloke with caution, only to be aggressively be told that this was his property and we wernt welcome with our flying machines. I attempted to apologise and explain that we did not realise it was someones land, and that we meant no harm.
I ended up convincing him not to call the "authorities", and that we would be on our way with haist.
Moral of the story, and lesson learnt, make sure when you decide to ride on a farmers property, you dont have a car with your details plastered all over it.
ahahaha thats sickkk. As if he shouldnt have let you guys keep flying. Likes like a tight spot! i have yet to kite in a crazy spot. but im sure i will!
Not sure how you didnt realise it was private property. ( in the second pic there are two fences between you and the water ) but thats what i would have said to the old guy too![]()
Love your work though. Could have been awesome if you were allowed to stay.
Not me kiting, a pom I was traveling with. He was maxed out with about 35 kts and only managed to drag about 70m through the sludge befoe realising there was no way to plane. Instead we spent the arvo trying to disinfect all the cuts to his feet from all the rocks in sticks in the mud! there is alot of salt there funnily enough, not goot for a fresh cut...
