Just had a phone call from Coolum - The 'Off the lip' downwinder went down with huge success today.

In conditions ranging between 10-15 knots, most of the contestants got off the start line and battled their way 15km downwind in the SE'er.

Top 3 Results -
1st Place - Mike Walker (Kite Thrills) on the 17m Ozone Zephyr
2nd Place - Josh Porter (Kitepower) on a 13m Ozone Edge RX
3rd Place - Andy Yates (Slingshot) on a 13m Slingshot Fuel

Congrats to all who finished - that's a long way to ride!!!

Photo's to come as soon as everyone gets home i'm sure!

Here are some pics that I took from Peregian.

The 17m Ozone was well ahead of the pack...

Someone took a deep sea line and looked to be doing well but lost ground coming back in.

Great pics guys, it was a fun weekend. Did anyone ride over a whale? Got a local guy in the shop the other day saying he saw someone during the race ride right over a calf which flicked up its tail as it went to dive out of the way.

If you did, let us know, that would have been really amazing to see.

Have Fun

Saturday night, just before dark the wind turned NE, so Bob Dawson and myself decided to have a quick session. I was riding a 17M Zephyr, and although I was not aware of riding over any whales they were swimming just in front of me at one point, right out from Stumers Crk at the Festival site. Then the wind dropped off and I had to loop it back to the beach, not bad for a 20 min session, and first time I have ever seen whales that close when kitesurfing.
