Has any one been on the ants kitesurfari to cooktown ? Was it value for money ? What are the food and living conditions etc like ? I am looking at giving it a go but could use a bit of feedback before parting with a couple grand of my hard earned ! Cheers!

Hey mate,

Have been going to KiteSurfari every year since 2008. Accommodation has changed alot over the years, fancy beds and pretty pillows in cabins these days, proper flushing dunny and hot shower now too. The thing that hasn't changed is the great hospitality that Ant and Paulie provide, everything is done for you so all you need to do is show up to Cairns with your kiting gear. A typical day involves waking up to some cereal and a coffee, go out for a quick kite to build an appetite for the full cooked breakfast to come, head out for another kite until you are knackered, then magically as you get off the beach lunch is ready. Have a quick nanna nap after a beer, then head out for an arvo session till you can't move any more. Come in for a hot shower, a beer, dinner, dessert then plonk on a chair in front of a fire before hitting the sack... Wake up and repeat.
It's the perfect trip for a quick winter kiting fix, where all you do is show up and not have to worry about or plan anything.

I'll be back up this weds.

Cheers,

Manny

You will love it up there especially if you live south of the border. The location is awesome, wind is predictable, food is great and Ant and Paulie are great hosts.

This place is epic...

Its the only place other than Brazil I have been to with guaranteed wind. It literally doesn't stop in season. Brazil is similar, but flights to brazil are over 3 grand!
Ant and Paulie have the best set up there, great food, its such a good get away location. Accommodation is basic but comfy and all you need, you will wake up to an amazing sunrise every day, then have your pre breakfast session, breakfast, pre lunch session, lunch, wait a bit and go again when you feel like it. As manno said ^^^ the beds are great, flushing toilet, hot shower, great food all day (Ant will never let you go hungry for a minute) and amazing kiting.

Definitely recommend the trip, I've been to a lot of places but this is definitely the windiest, and its in Oz! Definitely a must do kite trip at some stage

What they all said x 3 (at least). Unforgettable experience with some of the best people I've ever met. I've been 4 times and plan on may more, perhaps even later this year again.

Totally worth it and totally awesome.

yea we went last year ( 4 days ) and am booked in again in sept ( 8 days ) you don't do repeats unless totally happy.

Go on the web site and look at the other vid as well

I think we missed the Naish boys last year by a couple of days...would have been epic to see that action..

The cable ski park is in Cairns, not at Cooktown where Ant's resort is. Thought you Euro tourists would like to know.

Thanks Ewan, that is one of my favourite kite vids. Relaxed Aussie vibes and ACDC. Nice filming from Will as well.

Hi Guys,

I haven't been to Ant's Kitesurfari, but I have kited the winds of Cooktown before. Hell yerr! Sweet wind in bucket loads! Possibly the steadiest most windy place in Oz (In season) and the water is nice and warm.

If the accom and hospitality is as good as everyone says, you should go get some of that wind!

If you like kiteboarding this is the place to go three sessions a day maybe four the wind is nothing like sydney consist strong and non stop the water is warm so's the air temp, boardies the whole time if u want to improve on your kiting this is the place to be all you do is kite, eat, sleep, repeat. I was up there a month ago for 8 days which i'am glad i went for instead of the 4 day tour 30+knt winds for the first few days then it backed of to 20+knts for the rest of the trip and what it says on the website where the wind always blows it really does morning, noon, night non stop awesome experience the food is great Ant should be a chef i want to go back this year again but don't think the misses will let me
