I've just bought a second hand North 2013 10m rebel - kite only.
A bit shocked when I saw I would be up for about $550 for new bar and lines to suit.
Is there any way I can convert my Naish smart loop bar to suit? I need new lines anyway, but love the smart loop and would prefer to save the money too.
I've never used a five line system before so not sure how it all hooks up.
Cheers and thanks for your advice
Firstly , is your naish bar a 5 line bar? The rebel will not fly on 4 lines I know this I had a fifth line snap and the kite only just flew and was unridable. Other thing you need to check ,I think ? The naish 5 line bar ( such as the one for the torch ) the fifth line is not loaded ...meaning the line has a bungee type sheath over it to keep the line taught , the fifth line is not designed to carry load , the north rebel fifth line is on a stopper and actually holds load on the kite .
My advise is if you don't know what your doing ,get a north bar . I make up my own bar and line sets so can be done..
I've seen some wicked stacks from people messing with their bars and lines.
Hey Andrew,
Both the North and Naish 5-line bars work similar to each other. A bit of a mixed answer from Andrew, the Torch is designed to ride with a loaded 5th line. Both line set up will have a stopper at the "Y" to set the length of the 5th line.
By the sounds of your comment, you don't have a 5 line (Shift) Bar. You can purchase a shift upgrade kit which will give you the front line assembly to make your bar 5 lines. If your back lines are in good condition, this saves you the expense of replacing all lines, however, I do recommend changing all line at once.
Hope this helps,

JB
Your right , the shock cord / elastic part is below the y on the naish so the torch fifth line is loaded he same as a rebel.
Thanks for the advice. Think I'll just stump up for the North gear or I can see myself spending too much time on the project.
Cheers,
Andrew
