just an update for saturday . I have just spoken to Damo and from someone else suggesting using snowboards damo will be bringing around 10 twinnies for people to use if you don't want to bring your own . I will be bringing two orange raceboards for the last bit of the guard of honour . Any questions PM me .
Can we pls get an official take on kiters presentation.
Personally I will be most comfortable +++ and feel most appropriate +++ honouring Marc by rocking up in kiters uniform.
ie boardies & my fav kite shirt.
Its been suggested to me by someone (whose opinion I rate very highly) that this could be seen as disrespectful ????
I totally understand the time honoured tradition of wearing formal gear to funerals. Pretty much goes without saying - normally.
BUT
I just think that if there are a significant no. of kiters fronting up to pay their respects to a fellow kiter (not even necessarily a close mate) then it would be of huge benefit to family & friends if we were recognisable as a group which explains our reason for being there.
It is obvious from the posts & the response to the fund raising that Marc has carved himself a solid place in our community.
If we all rock up in suits & ties then to the family & close friends we are just going to be more of the nameless unknown numbers that come & go on the day. I am sure there is great consolation gained by family & close friends to see the overall nos. that take the effort to attend their loved ones ceremony. But if we are all just part of the crowd this will do nothing to reflect to those same people how highly regarded Marc was within the kiting community.
I have lost a nights sleep concerned over the Private Message which suggested the possible 'irreverence' of not dressing 'appropriately'.
Sorry if I offend anyone (not something I am unfamilar with) but in these situations I feel you have to be true to yourself. If it was me in Marcs place I would love to be looking down witnessing the recognisable group that was there to honour me as a fellow kiter. I am sure he is not going to recognise a lot us by names & faces.
If I am way out of line here please let me know.
Maybe Dusta can run it by Marc's wife what she would rather see the guys wearing? Maybe boardies over suits is a compromise? (Go on, someone had to suggest it
)
If I was living in Perth or even in Lancelin still I'd be keen to come down but I just can't make it from Geraldton with my shifts. Sounds like there will be a good turn out though.
I can’t make the service but if I was going I’d wear seaweed head to foot so that Coldie recognises me.
ok guys have spoken to margo and she would appreciate not coming in boardshorts and rashies :P
Suits would be preferable but whatever is cool just not board shorts and stuff .
We will have two orange temavento raceboards as the last part of the guard of honour and anyone else who wants to be apart of the guard either bring a TT or damo will have around 10 to us . Can everyone who wants to be part of the guard meet at the main entrance at 9:30am . I will be carrying a bright orange raceboard so if you don't know what i look like you will be able to spot me :)
I would like to attend even though I didn't know Marc. But I can't make it across from the east coast.
Kiters could wear a blue ribbon or some other agreed symbol on their suit or jacket label.
upodate guys . for all those that would like to form a guard of honour we are meeting at the main entrance at 9:30am
Fremantle cemetary cnr of carrington road and leach highway . If you have any questions please call me 0413 842244

Im sorry to say that I cant attend Marcs Farewell... please pass on my regards and make it a very special day for Marc Margo & Milo.
Im a 1000 miles away on a minesite and the bosses wont fly me back because hes is not family - well I really had to hold my tongue and walk away at that comment...
Family are the people who care about what happens to you & look out for you, and rescue you for that matter !!!
The nature of our sport brings us closer together whether we know it or not - unfortunately it has taken this very sad passing of our brother Marc to realize this, the out pouring of emotion has taken us all a step back to review ourselves not only as kiters but everyday human beings.
I would love to be there but cant...
So I had another thought - If WAKSA or somebody knows how to get permission from the Council to put a nice memorial plaque there that Margo deems appropriate... I'd happily pay for it, to honor and respect one of the "Family"...
Clayton.
I would like to just share a message Marc send me after his first ride on his new race board earlier in the year. Talking to him was always refreshing and he was just so stoked on life and kiting.
'I rode the beast and i found it quite easy, Tim was finding it easy too. I eventually did a coupla downwind runs and m8 it pulled my foreskin bak. Im still grinning from ear to ear!'
RIP Brother we thinking of you today on the Eastcoast

HAHAHA marv , that comment is so marc . Brought a smile to my face :)
To those crew who spoke at the funeral today I was so impressed with your words, capturing Marc's character and yet you held it together so well. The Board lineup was a great idea.
I really don't like funerals, but I awoke this morning and knew I had to go. My wife has even booked a haircut appointment at 930 (we are going to exmouth for two weeks and she gets her hair cut...I've given up trying to understand, lol).
Anyhow I know Marc was heading up to exmouth staying with some crew I know and love and to be quote honest I reckon if we had got together with my two younger brothers it would have been mayhem! I am sad I never knew the guy but I think I have a great idea of what he was like from your amazing words. I will have a few beers on his behalf with the crew when we get there.
I had to driveback to Mandurah to pack for exmouth and take a supervisors role to alleviate my wife's ergonomic deficiencies between what she wants to take and how much space we have in the car! Anyhow I gave my wife and two kids a kiss and a cuddle.
With a heavy heart I was honoured to attend the goodbye (but obviously never forgotten) with those who loved and adored sprod.
Rest in peace dude.
How totally amazingly ironic.
Here's a guy who lived his whole life proudly and deliberately standing out from the crowd.
With no planning involved he celebrates his parting on Grand Final Day with his home team song featuring in the very heart of the oppositions territory. !!!!!
I'm sure Marc would have been totally over-the-top hearing the Hawthorn Team Song ringing out in the heart of Freo. on a day that means so much!
Grand Final Day no less.
What is the chance of this being possible as Marc's last hoorah.
Will be thinking of Marc every time I help out a buddy Kiter.
Legend.
From the Train Drivers who attended Marc's funeral this morning, deepest sympathy to Marc's family and many friends.
We all go back along way and still caught up with Marc for a laugh. How many people do you know who hand delivered Christmas cards?
Jorge, Dave and Greg
you didn't even come and say hello eppo :(
Thanks to everyone who attended today , was a very very emotional day . Great turnout and i will post some photo's for those that couldn't make it when i have gone through the various sources .
had a great session on the water for 3 hours today with alti, el presidente darren and sean on our raceboards with marc supplying us with a good 15 knots . Love ya buddy and miss you so much but i think i have shed enough tears for one day .
Nah I just hung at the back and let you guys who really knew him mourn, man his beautiful wife was especially hard hit it as you would expect. I did secretly shed a tear but only because of the love I could see in the room. Boys don't cry right?
Just a moving moment all round and a fitting send off for the big fella. Fck he sounded like a right cracker!!
