Wow.
Looks like Sydney might actually be sailable on Saturday.
Does anyone actually remember how to kite surf? ![]()
I doubt we can kite but we can all talk ** like pro's. plenty of 2010 gear floating around for demo. better book some gear on the off chance the graphs are actually telling the truth. ![]()
I'm planning having my first kite session in 7 months this Saturday. The metal work in my foot should hold it all together![]()
That's the way to do... forget mucking around with footstraps like the rest of us... now you can simply magnetise your board and... off you go!
I can't believe it!!!
Here let me share some of our wind
Winds: Northwesterly 30 to 40 knots ahead of a west to southwesterly change of 30 to 40 knots during the early morning. Squalls to 55 knots possible near the change. Winds easing to 30 knots later in the afternoon and tending westerly 15 to 25 knots during the evening, before easing further to 10 to 20 knots at night. Seas: Up to 3 metres decreasing to 2 metres around dawn then decreasing to 1 metres later in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms until afternoon![]()

It seems to be true that we are going to have some wind this Saturday!!!
What are you reckon, deewhy beach (north) or la perouse (south)
That picture made my morning every day for a week.
Alas, kiting in Dubai is not all it's cracked up to be... I was thinking about moving over there for work a year or so ago..
For a start, you can only ride on kite beach (200m long), not on Fridays (holy day), and for all those people that are writing on the licencing post at the moment, try this one.. the licence is supposedly AED200 and lasts for one month only. There's about 10 times the amount of licence holders that there is room for on the beach.
"
Only members of Dubai Kite Club, which operates as part of Dubai International Marine Club, are allowed to kite surf on Dubai’s beaches.
Between January and March this year the club was not accepting new members or allowing existing members to renew their subscriptions.
This, Dean said, was a temporary restriction imposed to allow the club to reorganise itself following a period of upheaval.
However, he confirmed that enthusiasts were now able to renew their memberships and in doing so could obtain new licences from the club to kite surf.
On a windy day, more than 30 kites can be seen along the Jumeirah coastline although yesterday there was not enough wind for surfers to enjoy the waves properly.
The kite surfer banned last month was tracked down by police, expelled from the beach, fined and told never to kite surf on any of Dubai’s beaches in future after breaking club rules. "
yes indeed, you'll get your wind. the change just went through here with some 30kt+ gusts. Pack a small kite and some big balls.
I should add that today, i had neither.
That ad is a classic - i lived in dubai for 5 years. It's rarely windy, the main beaches are off limits on the weekends, the best spots were bulldozed and if i'm right, the dude in the pics was the biggest tool on the beach.
I was fined for kiting by the police on an empty beach once for environmental reasons. The dude powering around on the jetski was ok though.
warm water though!
Oman however has gotta be one of the best spots in the world and only 7 hours away by car.
