I might be pushing my luck but have to be in Cairns for a week in October for a conference. Planning on diving but wondering if it is worth taking my kite. Will have limited access to transport and will be at the Sebel....so right in the city. Any suggestions?

Hi Tan, October is normally a no wind month and great for diving but last year it was one of the windiest months, go figure ?
Can't hurt to bring your gear, best spot near Cairns is Yorkeys with plenty of buses to and from

Yo,

I did a week last year in Sept. 19-26. Wind was no problem and yorkies knob was a great spot for it. I stayed at some apartment hotel ON the beach. we got it for 150AUD. We moved out of Cairns as food was overpriced and nothing special.
By the way we stayed here: www.goldensandsresort.com.au/
its not top notch and all that but if you dont fancy 5 stars its good enough. its 30 meters off the beach.

At the time they had a resident kitesurf teacher. did a couple of lessons with him and it did me good.
