Heh guys, I'm heading up to Palm Cove next week for work and it looks like it will be windy all week. I've never been that far north so wondering if it's worth packing a kite? Also are there stingers up there this time of year?
Thanks guys ![]()
I obviously don't kite but I'd say no room to launch and too many beach goers at Palm Cove. Deff worth packing the kite but head down to Yorkeys only 10min or less, don't tell them I told you
Stingers long gone ![]()
Yeh I know what the ferk am I doing here, must be bored ![]()
Hi mate,
I live in Palm Cove and kite here regularly.
There is room to launch your kite at the southern end of the beach (best kiting there anyway) and plenty of room for launching at the Palm Cove Watersports area.
There is hardly anybody at the beach.
As Bob said Yorkeys is fine and Port Douglas is very good too.
Bring your gear and enjoy your stay.
Cheers
Caesar
PS: I'm recovering from an injury; that's why you wont see me there. ![]()

You guys pulling my leg? There's signs everywhere saying stay out of the water or you will get stung...
Guess I will test that on Thursday
. Anyone else around?
also signs everywhere bout the crocs but we dont see them in the water. youl be right, you wont get stung, not stinger season
I'm heading up that way next as well. Probably going to fly at Yorkeys. It looks awesome!!!
What kite size do you guys recommend? I'm 75kgs and fly my 8m on 18 knots and above - will it be 18+ most days?
Cheers
you will be wanting a 10m or a 12m. you wont get going on an 8m at the moment. wind hasnt been that strong lately
