I recently got 2 new 2010 Cab Switchblades and thought I would check the line length on my 12m bar and found that the rear lines are about 2 to 3 inches shorter then the centre lines. After looking at the Cab web sites it stats that all Cab kites are designed to fly with all lines at equal length when the bar is pulled all the way in.
I was just wondering if it is the norm for new Cab kites to need this much adjustment out of the bag.
I have adjusted mine but have not yet had the chance to give it a fly to see how different the kite is to fly.
Make sure you have the trim straps set to maximum power then minimum power when checking line lengths with the bar pulled all the way in, if the lines are still not at equal length they are stretched.
Koma there are no other adjustment knots under the floats there are only the ones on the pig tails I have now set it up to have equal line length with the kite on full power and the bar pulled all the way in just seems weird that the rear lines would be that much shorter out of the bag like that.
Hey mate, the lines tend to stretch a couple of inches straight out of the bag. A couple of sessions or tie them to a tree and lean back on the lines, that usually tends to pull them out. It sounds like you have set the lines lengths correctly now anyway.
Enjoy your new kite ![]()
brand spanking new about 2 weeks old the only reason I had a look at the lines was because it just didnt feel as good as the 09 when i flew it so lets hope this makes a difference.
The frontlines stretch during the first sessions.
Its normal and can easily be fixed.
Line stretching can cause the kite to fly in a way its not supposed to. Leaving the rider the feeling that the kite doesnt fly aswell as it did the first session. Thats a shame ofcourse.
I think every shop owner/seller should mention this issue to the buyer:
After a few sessions check the lines by this simple method described above to have your kite fly as it was supposed to fly.
Ok, the centerlines have stretched, and a good way to solve the issue is to shorten the centerlines.
That can easily be done using the 'centerline adjuster', which is located directly above the depowerstrap:http://www.cabrinhakites.com/2010-switchblade-ids.html Part H
Undo the knot, place it higher up the line, your centerlines are now shorter.
