Hi All,
I have a Cabrinha 12m (about 1 year old) and am still learning how to get moving. Although I've put the kite down a lot it's never really hit the water hard.
On the weekend I noticed that the kite has come away from 2-3 of the struts up near the leading edge. Is this a common thing?
I've done a search for who'd do repairs (in Melbourne) so will get it fixed up. If anyone has had recent repairs to a kite can you let me know where, who and about how much?
Thanks
Glenn
i think that is how its built. thats what my kite is like and its supposed to be like that. check b4 you get it repaired, coz that might ruin it
Thanks for that. I wasn't sure if that's how it was meant to be...never really noticed.
Had a dreadful session last week and got all my lines tied up. Thought I'd take the kite down to the footy oval to make sure everything was ok and noticed the gap!.
If that's how it's meant to be then I'm happy about that!
cheers
Glenn
I've repaired a centre strut that had come away. You should be able to see pulled stitching if it has. 3 struts sounds very odd. Generally happens after a 'wash through'.
ie When you drop your kite and a wave hits it. Pressure is worse if you are still hanging onto bar. Hold a plastic garbage bag in the waves and you'll get an idea of how much force is in the smallest of shore dumps. It requires a simple yet careful stitch to repair it. Moti Levi has done some good work for me recently. Take care when pumping up as the kite sits upside down on the centre strut stitch, so if you're on an abrasive surface it can wear through the stitch and be a start point for a wash through ![]()
