Hey all,

Soon I will be travelling to Bangkok. I intend to purchase some kite gear there, looking for a few bargains. I am not to sure where to look.

Can anyone recommend a shop?
Would it be best to head to Pattaya Bay?

Cheer,

Goat

Hate to burst your bubble... NO bargains there. Well you might pick up 5% on US exchange rate win, that's about it. Price in US will be the same as price in US here.

Be careful in Bangkok, a friend of mine almost got seduced my a 'lady boy' recently.
He said she looked like a woman, talked like a woman, even kissed like a woman.
It wasn't until they drove back to her place and she reversed parked into a narrow parking space that he thought, "hang on a f...ing minute!"

Thailand has heavy import taxes same goes for vietnam. Doubt you will even be able to find anywhere to purchase anyway.
Unless you find products that are made in thailand.

Bought an Airush Lift 9.4 from 'Mr Joe' at the Airush office Bangkok (board shaping den,) back in 2002. Half price if I recall. Then again it was 2002 so brands were few and the Baht was way cheaper than my Pound.

Would go local now, and always check the secondhand market first. New gear is still too exy IMHO.

check on the net that its an "authorized dealer" of what ever brand you are buying and the make %100 sure that the item has a product code on kite and bar and lines.. few stories going around that shops are selling factory 2nds to unaware people and items do not have a warranty!
