I'm after information on the best places around this area for kiting/ family camping. I'll be there mid Oct.
Thanks
COL
Go to Tannum sands mate only another hour up the road from agnes.
Caravan park right on the beach. great spot I used to live there.
Spent 2 weeks at 1770 last chrissy, The river mouth is the only way to go... Agnes is crap unless its blowing from the south.
The other side of the river mouth is a massive flat water lagoon on the beach that works mid to low tide.
You can also head north upto Middle creek.
Look out for a local guy named Sharky... He's top bloke and will let you now the best spots.
Chris.
- Burnett Heads
- Elliot Heads
- Moore Park
There's heaps of flat water and wave options around the place - and no crowds!
1770 River mouth on a NE, heaps of Rays in the shallows and camping right there on the river
Agnes is great on SE, and works on a NE near the surf club (half way - not near town), again camping in Agnes town, and half way along road.
If you have a 4x4, head down through the National park to the South, a couple of nice places, with camping. A bit rocky at a few places though.
Middle Creek is good in heaps of directions, big river mouth, a little isolated and spooky when swimming across river to launch in some directions...
And my Favourite spot only 10min from town, with great waves and flat water, is at #@%$#^%&*^)^$..... as if I would tell you.......
hows this if the winds are right why not kite from agnes too 1770 now that would be a blast you get too check out all the good spots
I just got home from there Col, google "kitesurf1770.com.au", they do tours, day trips into National Parks> It's a great spot to play. Two campgrounds, one council run one the river at 1770 and the other Captain cook Caravan Park which is half way between Agnes and 1770. The water is great temperature now, just need a rashie and sunscreen! Have Fun!
