What options are there for broken lines? One of my front lines snapped in the middle and i was thinking I could just tie it back together and shorten the other line to match. Is this possible or is there a danger in doing this?

It'll weaken the line. I did it coz I had to once and got away with it alright, but best to get a new set of four, and keep all the old ones for spares

Depending on why it broke in the first place, the rest of the line might be buggered anyway, so I'd be replacing the lines. Also, knotting a line will weaken it (as has already been said), so it's not a good solution in the long term.
