If you're working in the CBD, where's the nearest (good) place to kite?
How long would it take to get there if I left ~17:30 during the week?
Also different sites for N,E,S & W?
Sandgate or Brighton proably around 30min in traffic. Best option from CBD good from N-SE
30m at 3am maybe. 1hr at 530 but you'd have to hand over half your wage to be parking in the city in the first place

I used to work in Fortitude Valley/Newstead area, and I clocked off at 4pm. By the time I drove out of the carpark, up to Sandgate (freeway traffic was terrible) and got my kite up in the air, It was seldom to be riding before 5pm most nights.
530pm would be a stretch. Maybe you can start early and finish earlier? Also, with no daylight savings, I think you'd only have enough light in Dec/Jan/Feb to ride until late (maybe 7-730pm at the latest).
Give it a go! Any time in the water is better than in the office!

love melbs in summer you can kite till the sun goes down... say 8:45pm
leaving that late you might have to satisfy yourself with a land kite at Murarrie Recreation Grounds. You should be there in 30mins, and with your foils, it's perfect location at least for wind fun.
Thanks.
~24km to the beach in <1hr ... sure beats Sydney traffic... takes me 1hr to go 12km, but I can kite til 20hrs.
What about in winter? Sydney wind is all nasty W, SW and it gets dark at 17hrs.
I've got a project coming up which has me in Brisbane for a couple of weeks every couple of months... not sure if it's worth taking my gear up.
I'll be staying in a hotel in the CBD, and I guess I can rent a car and park it there ;)
