Fellow Seabreezers, is it me or has this place been off like a stale bottle of piss since Laurie removed the red thumb?

I use to check this forum every time I turned on my computer but I’m now lucky to check it once a week. There’s almost no light-hearted sarcasm, making it a benign boring forum compared to what it once was. Even Lofty seems to have left the room.

What do you guys/ girls think, has Seabreeze gone soft with political correctness? Is it time to call it a failed social experiment and ask Laurie to bring it back?

I think removing the red thumb has had the surprising affect of more or less removing the green thumb too. I don't bother much green thumbing now to defend a mate, an opinion, a product as they can't be redded.

Whatever, it's still the best place to discuss ****, and the forecasts are my daily check in.

The Red thumb is stupid.

Much better that people are invited to join discussion pros cons positive or negative. As I have mentioned years ago, some will not respond to anything because of the stupid colour and fear of being ridiculed.
Exactly what you "dont" want on an open forum.

I guess it comes down to Laziness..

In the Modern world, it's best to do a quick online search to find out about a product, it's typed by fingers and will access worldwide info.

For example...Laziness reviews, then press search.

Then you'll know if someone's full of ****

Political correctness gone mad!

Bring it back and let us vote!

We all don't have time to write long winded replies for or against just makes it more convenient to have your say.

It's long winded replies that educate those with no clues..

It also gives insight and collective imagination a boost - resulting in possible design or safety redesign of gear...

Sometimes we all think we have a great idea - and not see a possible flaw - discussion let's them know it might actually kill them or waste their time and money..

How many of us have moded so called high tech kite gear and made it work better !
Everyone benefits from open discussion.

I wasn't politically correct with windreams... How can red thumbs be equated with freedom of feedback and political correctness.

Red thumbs also equals lofty, rpm flogbags to
Proliferate.

The best banter is obtained through writing something surely... How does a red thumb promote banter?

It's a silent sh1t ridden fart in a room all alone where you are the only one giggling to your foolish self.

Your arguments are as stupid and immature as your intentions.

You want freedom induced banter... Well let's dance you Doughnut punchers.

Maybe we should just have an option you can select if you wish to see or hide the RED and GREEN thumb indication.

So all the precious people don't have to be traumatised in any way.

The silent gutless red thumber needs to see an impact of his silent negativity!.
Whats the point of secretly red thumbing someone if you can't then witness there recievers distress?

Sorta like the arsonist that sets fire to a school and wants to watch it burn. But doesn't want anyone to know he set the fire........

Perhaps the red thumbers amongst us are the introverted arseholes finally finding an outlet to there arsewholedem that they could not otherwise release being too scaredy cat to vent in normal everyday life?

Oh I would soooo red thumb this.

Not everyone can be arsed joining a discussion, many just want to indicate their support or disapproval.

And if people care so much about what total strangers think of them they should go do some self esteem hippy workshop.

Like I give a crap what others think of my opinions.

Amusingly these days if you are not green thumbed, then by inference you most likely would have been red thumbed.
So..... by proxy no thumb=redthumb.....

extreme kites has a good system

You can like a post. Each time a post is liked you get a point towards your reputation.

Posters build up a reputation over time. Its an easy way to tell "theDoctor's" from the worthwhile contributors.

Classic breeze...

Ive had my fair share of red thumbs. doesnt bother me a great deal because I know most of you are kooks without a clue Judging from what I see on the water.

But i do think the red thumbs stifle productive discussions at times.

Sure this is mostly Sh1t and giggles, but now and then their is some great information shared.

I also think red thumbs can allow certain brand fan boys to run riot as well.

Reckon on this place is better off without them. personally I'd have no thumbs at all, red or green.

Just a forum of people talking Kiting...simple, what's so bad about that? With some healthy banter. All good.

Freddofrog honey

What will you contribute to helping our sport go forward with ideas ?

. That dot to the left, is a left click - it supports nothing and does not generate any ideas or discussion.

What would you be reading if we all followed your "Left click" wisdom ???

Ps thank you for joining our discussion

Yeh that’s more like it… raise the tempo eppo. This is a perfect example when I'd use the red thumb, because putting finger to keyboard would be a waste of my time.

Back to the general discussion: If you can’t use a red thumb, why have a green one as there is going to be a mix of opinions on any subject and having both gives you a general idea of what the majority think.

The other argument being raised is hiding behind the red thumb” or “man up and type your reasons for disapproval”. Well that’s all well and good, but some comments don’t deserve the time it takes to respond or you simply don't have the time, so a red thumb suffices. If we are so touchy about wanting to know who gave us a red thumb, maybe Laurie can place a list of red/green Thumber’s so when the pointer is hovered over the thumb the list is visible (similar to the “like” symbol on Facebook}. Personally I don’t care who red thumbs me. The reason I mentioned political correctness was I'd hoped the red thumb removal wasn't due to it possibly offending someone's tender feelings.

Overall I just see it as a bit of fun that’s been taken from the forum for no valid reason.

But hey that’s my opinion and if you don’t like it, so be it...

Unfortunately,

there's a bland, clean-cut, middle-of-the-road, suburbanite cohort on this site,

who delight in having a vanilla forum ...

that tastes just like white Wonderbread.
