Hi thought id share my great day! Rocked down today with the work van ( Blue) Toyota and went for a sesh with just my boardies and top. Brought the keys down and placed em in my top. Got in packed the kite grabbed my top and voila no ****ing keys!!!
Turns out some mongrels took my keys unlocked the car and obviously rushed, only took both of my mobile phones. But thanks for leaving the keys behind not! No spare key cant get hold of boss ( company car ) car full gear and mongrels out there with the keys so i couldnt leave the car behind.
Big thanks to everyone who offered assistance especially Graceful and his gal and another ben for letting me use his mobile phone. Rung the rac tow divison and they werent keen on coming out due to size of van and the fact that the steering was locked and wheels on a 45 degree angle. A plug to TODD (mcguiver) from the RAC who was prompt and managed to get the van towed using degreaser and crc to get van onto the tray. Amazing job car is now back at home in on piece. Todd thanks again you give the rac a good name.
Having never been robbed at the beach before please be vigilante and take care of your gear. come see me at brighton ill give you a descrition of the offenders to look out for in the future.
To make matters worse the owner of the company i work for flew in to perth today and arranged dinner which i obviously missed and i was unable to contact because of phone being stolen. Finally tracked him down and told him my sad story and he was cool with it. So as per SEBOL previous post i would kick the **** out of them now having it happen to me. Thanks again Harry
Harry- glad it kind of all worked out.
Had a scope of the other carparks and couldnt see the likely offenders. Probably a good thing.. I wouldnt have known what to do with them.
Sucks they were poaching on kiteboarders.
I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago, the thief must have watched me hide my keys and waited till I was a few hundred metres out.. I saw my car door open and headed straight for the beach but he bolted as I got close... wallet camera and some cash gone.
Trouble is most keys don't like swiming these days, anyhow don't hide the keys anymore just take them out in a waterproof bag..
Doesnt help they just smashed my back window 4 weeks ago..
I rekon if the cat of nine tails or the ratan cane that they use in Singapore were to come in, alot of this crime would evaporate..
It'll never happen though, too many do gooders around,
Just checkout some of the threads on this forum
My tip, get a spare car key cut (just a plain metal one), leave you proper keys/ alarm activator etc hidden inside car, set alarm, lock car with plain key and take with you tied to harness or whatever.
Come in from session, unlock car, find proper keys, turn off alarm, bobs your uncle.
Have been doing this for about a year since I had stuff including keys stolen of beach at Pengo's.
Doesnt stop car break in's of course, but there is always good spots to hide small valuable stuff in the car.
i dont know why people bother hiding car key. all you need is a metal spare key (ie. no chip). this key will open door but wont start car.
put this key in your pocket, and hide your real keys in the car.
best thing is they cost like $10.
EDIT: dito^^^
Yeah I used to use the spare key trick (after the first robbery) but I got sick of explaining to everyone that it really was my car, when the alarm was howling it's head off. It would also register on the car computer that the car had been broken into, like a 150 times between services and the mechanic said it could cause problems with the computer running out of memory..
Anyways... It's got to be one of the worst feelings finding that you've been robbed, with me it's almost one of disbelief
