Any hints or tips ? I'm lucky enough to be here for a few days???..best tours or spots ? And any idea how to get around the IKO certification requirement for hiring gear ?
Cheers,
xoxo Loverboy
You wont need IKO cert. they will just ask you a few questions to suss out your competency. If you're not competent you will be the proud owner of a kite sitting in a Phillo coconut palm ![]()
Cant remember his name but the guy that runs the place with the slingshot kites up the northern end was good to deal with and plenty of kites.
Also, if you get sick of eating rice go and check this place out

Bit of a taxi ride up the island but well worth it. Awesome food.

Glen Parsons, from Ocean Republic.
We went in 2009/10 and 2010/2011. Stay off of Bulabog beach as much as you can, its a cluster f*k of euros and you cant get much good kiting done.
The real Philippines starts in remote places like Cuyo and Seco Islands, which are a few hours boat ride dependent on where you leave. There are hundreds of islands. Ask Glen if he still does island hopping tours.
Trust me, you will have more fun on the remote islands. 25+kts, flat water and just you and your buddies. Boracay is really only good for partying at white beach and getting your wallet stolen.
Have fun
