Hi all

I am an intermediate rider and have been working on boosting higher this season

I understand how to ride upwind and pop, but I'm not too sure of the physics of the wind.

Can anyone explain what's happening with the kite with the second launch? I'm assuming that I am jumping and then the kite is catching different air, or I'm turning the kite downwind as part of the jump?

I'm hoping that a better understanding will help me improve my jumping. I am landing my jumps well just not too sure what's happening up there ;)

The elevator ride? 1st floor, women's lingerie; 2nd floor, men's socks... 10th floor, brown shorts!

Hit by a gust or wind gradient... if the kite is above you and you're not moving it.

If you redirect or loop on the way down, the kite's movement generates apparent wind and you get the lift from that - especially as it goes over the zenith, but unless you're proper kite-looping it'll be more of a hover, than a lift...

Gradient effect is very minimal <50m.
You can get a nice gradient in the even just before sunset bcos of the cooler air... best time to boost big.

Great vid, cheers cbulota, what I have been doing without actually knowing how.

What I mean when I say 'second launch' is jumping and while in the air the kite catches some wind and shoots you upwards. I'm assuming that I'm edging and popping and then turning the kite causing it to catch the wind and sending me upwards.

Whatever is happening its good times.., :D

Sometimes it's difficult to understand the terminology on SB, but makes sense once you watch the vid
