^^^LOL, PIMP ALERT

If anything the lunacy would be one of the worst boards for holding down power, it's super flat and really wide especially in the tips with a fair bit of flex. This will make it very efficient with little drag.
But as everyone has said, it's nothing to do with the board (unless it's a surfboard) it's all technique, ride the board you like the best.

Ass - The lunacy is actually pretty good for holding down power... Have you ridden one?

Just thought i'd give everyone the verdict... After riding the 09/10 Underground FLX 132, '10 Slingshot Misfit 136, '09 Nobile 555 131, '09 Nobile 666 131 , '10 Calibre 133 - plus the others mentioned earlier.

Evan's chosen the '09 Nobile 666 131, Evan chose it for the performance, but it was hard to beat for the price!!!

Just goes to show that demoing a heap of boards really allows you to choose the right one for you - Between 2 shops (Kitepower QLD & Briskites) Evan got to ride all the above mentioned boards (at length) to test (and still didn't try all the available boards!)

Do yourselves a favour and go to your local shop, ask what they've got to demo and take it for a ride - then come on here and you can have a justified opinion, rather than "oh that boards this and this etc, naaaah it won't edge well"

I am intermediate 72kg rider, presently riding a 135x41 cardboard tempo that has loads of rocker and quite a tapered tip, in flat to small swell.

IMO At your weight....that board is waaay too big and you simply dont have the weight to hold that much edge when fully powered.
I am 84kg and ride a 128 ( Nobile Shinn ) a 129( Lunacy ) & 126 (cardboards ).

THe board you have would be awesome for wakestyle/ unhooked tricks at the lower end of your wind range. ie : use the extra length/width to get going in lighter winds and so you dont sink after tricks.

I completely disagree - I went from a 05 128 Underground Flex (about 36cm wide) to a 139x43 LF concept and can ride them both in similar conditions with similar hold. The concept does take a bit more to get it to hold down but not much - there are so many factors that come into play other than board size - and technique is a big one to consider.

don't be scared of a bigger board, I'd say 135 is perfect for you, if you go smaller you might find other things a lot harder. Play with your stance and riding position first.

The Concept is a binding board. It has a heavy rocker on it which would make it slow which is why its not really surprisingly that it has good top end because its a slow board. My 133 Cardboard had way more bottom end than my 139 Concept Grind.

^What are you trying to say? that boards with mre rocker have slightly better top end because they are slower due to increased drag from being less effiecient? Which means boards with less rocker (such as lunacy) that are more efficient perhaps have a worse top end???
Gee fancy that ay.

Slightly off topic but those who have ridden the 2010 Lunacy, how do you find the straps and pads (Bolt ons) especially the pads?

Cheers

I have ridden the Misfit with the Bolt-ons... First time you jump on it's suuuuuper slippery (the pads) but eventually the coating wears off and they are mint :) Comfy, laces actually work and tighten up the right bits... From a shop assistant point of view - they are awesome because they take roughly 30 seconds to put on the board lol

Ha ha, I found the '08 and '09 ones a bitch to put on. Would have hated to have to set up a few boards.

if you dont want to be busting you aze in the surf with over power go the airush hammer it good to wash off speed and power when required, but suks up the bumps big time all good if the skill set is there a bit :)

Yeah, the Bolt Ons certainly are easy to attatch and adjust the amount of 'Duck' in the stance. I also found them really slippery when I first used them, almost impossible to use. Thats why I asked the question to see if it was just me. But as you say Rhys they have improved with each session. I ran a bit of sand paper over the white (middle section of the pad were it is slippery) and this really improved the grip.

Yep - We waxed ours up with surfboard wax..

Looking at the brand new Lunacy we've got here - it seems as though there's a shiny silicone coating on the top of the pads... Weird
