The handle came loose so I got out a big screwdriver and tightened it up.
Tonight it came loose again (one end swinging in the breeze). Do I do it up tighter or do I use something like loctite?
I don't know how robustly the nuts are set into the board. So if I use locktite will it be impossible to replace the handle if something happens to it?
It looks to me like there is only about 2 threads of the screw going into the board so I am a bit cautious about doing it up too tight.
What is the handle even for?
Does a wakeboard have a handle, or a surfboard?
Pretty safe to take it off I'd say.![]()

If theres only 2 threads going through, someone put the wrong length bolts in, screw the bolt all the way in without the handle and measure the handle/bolt height. the bolt should sit about 2mm lower than the handle.
Otherwise if all OK, plumbers taper works a treat
Mine keeps coming loose too and thinking of loctiting it on.
I hate boards without handles, such a pain to put the board on in deep water
Loose that handle!!
The handle already is loose!or maybe you mean 'lose the handle'....
Anyway, there are many grades of loctite. If you use a screwlock grade (can't remember the number and can't be arsed googling it for you) you can still undo the screws later. If you use a super retaining compound (like 680) then you will need enough heat to melt your board to get the screws out. Hope this helps.

Thanks Skid. Without your post I would have just used the one I have in my garage and would have probably gotten into trouble.
I did learn the hard way that 'super wick it' is not the best choice to stick the knob on a potentiometer. Unfortunately I learn't that one at 2 in the morning on a aluminium casting conveyor belt. Many tonnes of molten Aluminium became constant speed there for a while.
Yep, I use Loctite 222 on important fasteners like depower cleats/ swivels and Teflon tape for general fasteners on handles and foot straps. Never had a problem. Small 222 about $14 and tape a couple of bucks.
