Got a 2004 23.5 Contra delivered today for fun. Shop display product, kite still crinkly, brand new bar, brand new lines, new pump, etc at a total cost of $50 which I reckon will be fun for the odd light wind days when no one is on the water at St Kilda. Well worth the cost if you just think of the new lines and pump.
Unfortunately I'll be out of kiting until November but its gonna be interesting to take this beast for a run in light wind. Thank god for the electric pump. Who wants the first run? Anyone wanna try F16 this baby?

I had a 21m Best Nemesis back in 2005 or so that i use to fly on the Goldy - solid red colour.
Excellent kite, got me out there powered up in 10knts - could still loop it, water start and ride waves with it.
I miss the big kites.
I think there is definatlye a place in the quiver for a 16 - 21m or so.
Using these large kites makes you a better kite flyer as well, as you have to have foresight to know where you want the kite to be in 2 - 4 seconds in advance.
When you get back on your small kites it's feels so easy.
Just about to leave to drive up to kitestock - COWABUNGA
The 04 contra was a great kite - it was my second kite - I had a 16.5m and the LE was about as thick as my thigh - the first being Cabrinha 12m Nitro. I'd love to get a brand new Nitro crinkly out the bag for $50. If anyone has a brand new Nitro for sale I'll take it off you. Yellow and black preferred but not too fussy.
I had a 21 BFK and I have to say the glide on that kite was like no other... sometimes on the way down from a jump I'd extend my legs to touch the water 3 times and it just stayed a foot or so below the board for a stupidly long time. The pumping was what killed it for me though, half an hour later and I'd be done in before I even hit the water.
Ha ha, I see you even got the free Cabrinha stubby cooler that says "Ride Responsibly". I have the one that says - "Don't drink and ride - you might trip a rail" why did they stop the free stubby coolers?
A guy I kite with has taken the battery out and hard-wired his electric pump to a cigarette lighter plug. CHAMPION for pumping up the whole crew's kites before a session. Just need to remember to put your car on accessories...![]()
