I'm using the new Banana boat, its like water and I find I'm getting burnt where as the older thicker and had no probs.
Back to white zinc?
Woolworths clear zinc.
Doesn't sting eyes one bit, sticks like flies to sh...t and is cheap.
Don't leave home without it![]()
all sunscreens are sh---te. if you are a surfer you will always use zinc as any waves landing on your head will wash ordinary sunscreen off.
whether it makes you boost bigger that's another question but you can always scare people with your white face.
Best I have found is the SPF 50 from Invisible Zinc

Seems to last for a decent session..
The best sunscreen I've ever used is the Hamilton Quadblock. I think they changed the name of it for Hamilton Active Family: http://www.hamiltonsun.com.au/products/#active-lotion
It's very thick and it's almost impossible to apply it without any white spots left on your skin, but that's probably a good thing! I basically can get through a whole afternoon (6 hours) working on the beach and kiting with only one application. Other brands I have to put more every 1-2 hours otherwise I get sunburned.

The banana boat black used to be the go, but that's gone pissy too, zincs good but not on my lips, drys them out, had 4 ops last year from minor to a decent one, possibly all sun related, plastic surgeon said did I spend time on the water, as he's seen a big influx in guys at my age especially with dramas in their lips, I now wear a headhunter peaked hat, don't care if it's cool or not, cover up fellas
This was just after, 2 days later I couldn't see due to swelling, then had a big blood loss that had me back in hospital, reminded me of my boxing days, 15mins un protected is all it takes to plant the seed, it's given me a big shake up to sun protection unfortunately too late I'd say
sun mud www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=sunmud&e=com best stuff ive found in a long time and not full of chemicals>
I had a knife fight with my doctor 2 weeks ago

Doesn't always work, I'd been checked 3 years on the trot, they'd take photos , then I was told they'd be checked and if anything was untowards they'd contact me, I pointed the one out to them 2 years prior, I went to see my local gp, he eyed me over and spotted a few offenders, told me when having skin checks see a good hands on dematologist
I use Island Tribe gel and standard white zinc but think I need more material protection very soon because no matter what, my nose will still get slightly burnt by the end of a session. I worry about sun damage much more than I worry about physical injury from kiting. I hate the sun! :P
Some of the windsurfers at Swanbourne use this full sun protection suit. It is for sun protection right??

That's the new Dakine body suit harness
There is a ripper of a new sunscreen called 'Man Gu' that is being sold locally.
Apply liberally and no need to re apply as it has a big hit of all those enzymes and vitamins.
Comes in white and also clear..

At Swanbourne I wouldn't be trusting anyone who appears in that suit.. Especially near the toilets or sandunes...
I'm sure the right wing conspiracy theorists are going to hate me for posting this one.
Scientists have recently found that the oxybenzone in many sunscreens kills corals.
Fortunately Tasmania has neither coral nor sun...
The Melanoma Institute Australia recommend to use waterproof sunscreen in the highest protection rating available. Zink is also a great option in addition to sunscreen. Good on you for looking into ways to protect your skin from the sun. With melanoma regarded as Australia's national cancer it is a great idea to look into ways to protect your skin while in the water.
Surf yogis zinc . Stick like ****e to a blanket very hard to wash off and it's all natural . Used it for 2 weeks in Java no sunburn and run with it every time on the kite
