Hey all - I bought a used 2012 Best TS 14m kite recently without a bar and I've been using my 4 line Liquid force bar to fly it. The bar is about 5cm narrower than the recommended Best bar. The lines are all equal length on the Liquid Force bar.

In short, I've tried connecting the steering lines to the various different knots on the bridal lines and sheeting the kite at various levels of de-power but I can't get the bar pressure down and it's quite twitchy when riding.

The steering is responsive enough, that's ok but the kite has a lot of bar pressure, so much that after 30-45mins of riding my forearms are in agony.

I'm not the most experienced kiter, so I'm just wondering if this is normal for a Best TS, or could it be related to me using a different brand bar?

Does anyone have a Best bar in Melbourne I could maybe try for a few minutes just to see if it makes a difference?

Cheers.

Have you attached the back line pig tails to the rear attachment point on the kite, from memory there are 2 points, the further back the lighter the bar pressure, it sounds unusual as the TS is well known for having reasonably light bar pressure, the bar you are using should be ok as long as it allows the kite to fully flag out, as with all sle kites you do not want to be over sheeting them. The Best website has a link to product support, on there you can down load a pdf users manual with illustrations for all the 2012 kites, its worth a read.

Thanks for pointing that out, unfortunately the steering bridal lines are already connected to the furthermost rear setting of the trailing edge.

Just to qualify my impression of the bar pressure, I've flown Cabrinas, Cores, Liquid Force, North, Ozone kites and I've never experienced such a wrestle with the bar before. I suppose to be fair to the kite I have been using it at the upper wind limits of the kite at times i.e. low to mid 20s knots but I'm 90 kgs at the same time...

The Liquid Force bars have about 2 foot of bar travel / power adjustment (if that's the term?). Still wondering if it's a bar issue?

I use my Core bar from time to time on my 2013 Best TS 7 and 9M kites but only use my Best bar on the 12m TS as it is 5 cm longer, better to use longer bars on bigger kites, makes turning the kite easier,my Core Bar is 48 cm and my Best Bar is 53 cm
