I have been using a 10m 2009 flow and it has came to the fnd of it's usefulness (I bought it in 2009 but didn't ride until this year) I am now looking for new gear. What would people recommend, my mates tide on Best Kahoonas but would like to hear other advice. I am a free rider who likes to ride washes, flat and want to start jumping well.

There's no 'best' kite on the Market for what you want and your skill level pretty much any allrounder kite will do the job...

If you wanna ride fast jump huge and Mega loop hard with rip your arms out pull - then youll be wanting the 9m Epic Screamer... A tough built kite too.

Don't buy a C4 unless you are dedicated wake style. They are horrible for general freeride! HORRIBLE!!! (well 2013+ are)

Which I guess proves saves the whales point. There is no "best" kite out there. One mans glory is another mans nightmare.

Yea I have a 10m RPM and it is still my favourite kite.
Very predictable and easy relaunch, not a lot of bottom end but a great kite.
Usually here we all know each other on the beach and if you want to try someone else kite it is usually no problem.

Epic screamer 9m or10 ltd v4 or Blade Mist or Blade Trigger kites , all 3 are good all round freeride and boosting kites and good price value in todays kite market. There is no best kite , demo, it is what suits us as riders

Hey Gaf,
Nothing wrong with staying with airush, 2009 Flow still isn't a bad kite maybe a bit dated.
Consider an AR Lithium 2nd hand I dont think you'd be disappointed.

You need a good allrounder .You won't find a specific kite till you find out which discipline you want to do .This takes time .
Get a good all rounder that covers all disciplines and is easy and fun to ride.
The air rush flow was my first kite too and is by far the worst kite I have flown.I got a cabrinha switchblade after that and that was stable and easy to fly. From there I got in to big airs.
I wanted a quick turning kite after the switch blade so I invested in a North vegas which is a freestyle kite.I was keen on freestyle back then.
I still fly my 2011 vegas now. Then I wanted to explore waves and stuffed around with the vegas for a long time then decided on the wave specific kite the ozone reo. That is dynamite in the waves.
I have a Ozone edge 17 m which gets me out on my light wind days.

I'm looking for an all rounder for lighter wind days for free riding waves ,big airs and a bit of free style too.Im going to have a punt on the switch element 3 in the 13m. At under 800 bucks for kite only , no pump ,no bar or bag for the brand new model .thats about half the price of all the other major brands.
I recomend you demo as many brands as you can.
Some good allrounders to look at are the ozone Cataylyst , sling shot rpm, north dice ,wainman, core gt,cabrinha switch blade, airush lithium, switch element.
There over a 100 brands out there and list is long!.
There is no best kite out there even the company BEST try to claim there kites are the best.
Its impossible too because there are millions of different kiters out there with there own unique style. Good luck

I have been flying c4 2013s for the last year and and a bit. They did take a while to get used to, But once your dialed in there sweet. I am a general free rider and dont have a problem. In fact id say my kite ability over this last year has improved remarkably. Plummet you are right about one thing. They are a sick wake style kite.

I still use my 2011 9m Screamer for everything in its range and gets trashed in the surf frequently and it's still going strong..

But don't take my word - ask any of the locals if they've ever seen my kite ripped in the last 3 1/2 years

You are joking...

It is well known as the worst kite ever.

If you think otherwise then you need to stop giving advise on SB.

Gaf - check out F-one bandits - even a 2010 B3 is an amazing easy kite to use for almost whatever you want - the newer versions of the Bandit 4, 5, 6, and 7 have incremental improvements - but like all say, fly and try - and the one that feels right is the one for you - what ever brand of kite it may be !!!
The main stream brands have had heaps of development time so most should be a safe bet - maybe your question should have been WHICH POST 2010 KITES SHOULD I AVOID for ...... waves? freestyle? freeride? - depending on your focus??

Are you sure you had all four strings attached when you flew it ? The c4 is in no way deserving of being described as a horrible freeride kite.

2011 c4...mmmmmh a glorious freeride kite. 2013. not so. any way. Let us not get bogged down on my disliking of the latest c4's. If you want, search the 2013 c4 discussions in the gear reviews. yourl find tones of posts.

My point is, what one man loves another man hates. There is no one kite to rule them all.

1. Peter Lynn Charger
2. Spleene X19
3. Ozone Chrono

I rated the Peter Lynn charger highest because of its stunning puffy snuggly doona like appearance.

Foils will always have a special place in my kiting toolbox, the simplicity of 4 lines can never compete with 200 intricately placed bridles.

Cheers guys, I am glad I have been flying the worst kit of all time so I am sure anything will be better. Decided to go with the Cabrinha Switchblade as I have had many recommendations and ended up landing a smashing deal for 2014 kites.

Will see you all out there.

Care to back that up with some references or explain further?

My recollection of the 09 Flow was that it was a solid entry level kite with no bad habits or negative issues.

Perhaps not overly memorable, but far from the the worst kite ever??
