I bought the original Best Nemesis back in 2005 and although it was a satisfactory kite it wasn't as good as their rivals but to be fair it was their first attempt. I've been Cabrinha since then and haven't bought any new gear since early 07 and haven't been "In the game" as much as I would like to the past couple of years.

Is Best on par these days with the likes of Naish, Slingshot, North and Cabrinha? ( Cue the Cabrinha slinging)

Also any other new brands out there that I should know about?

Cheers
Andrew

havent tried many other kites, and of course everyone reckons their kites are the best...no pun intended, but for what its worth ive worked an 08 11m and 09 9m waroo pretty hard for two seasons now and couldnt complain, great to fly all round and havent had one fault/break/replacement at all.

Hi Mate,
Have a look to JN kites, it is not very famous in Australia yet but they definitely make great kites.
For reviews:
www.iksurfmag.com/issue14/?page=97
or
www.iksurfmag.com/issue15/?page=69 (if you're more into C kites!)

The latter, the prima donna 3 is a great new generation C kite, it flies similarly to the 2010 North Vegas (my girlfriend has 7,9 and 12m vegas 2010), but behaves much better in strong wind (in my opinion). Moreover, they are much cheaper than North!
check out prices in Australia on:

cheers,

En

Hey

imo best are a great brand and like any company have developed alot over the last few years and have come along way in the line of nemies sinces the 05 modal. The 2010 nemie is basically a blend of the yarga and the nemesis and is really aimed for your high end freestyle riders. It is imo alot different to recent years but in a great way for my style ridding. If you are lookin for a more all round kite youser friendly then deffinitly look at the likes of your waroos or a kahoona wich is great for wave riding as well,

the new bullaroos have jus touch down in auz and are a bloody good kite. Great hang time and stability in high winds, also good freestyle kite! I belive handles better then the nemie in higher winds.

If u are lookin for that type of kite that was simular the 05 nemei but with improvments then deffinitly give the bullaroos a test (check gear reviews)

in comparisin to your nash, cabrinha, slingshot and north ect i cant really help u much with, but i have had a quick burl of the new nash touch, sling shot rpm and the 2010 north vages and i belive best is very much so in par with these companise.

My best advice is to talk to all dealers and try n test a few of there demo first, cause lets face it every rider has a different opion on wat kites are good and not.

I really express to give a bullaroo a go but!

Cheers

I have a best Kahoona 7.5m which I absolutely love. I have taken it out in all sorts of conditions and it is really stable and great to relaunch. I tested out the Kahoona 9.5m and it totally sucked. Really really unresponsive and slow. My 9m is a North Rebel.

Just try them out for yourself.

My mates ride cab switchies 08, ids and idsx and liquid force havocs and hifis and hifi comps mostly. I ride waroos, 08 and 09. All these are good kites in my opinion but each is very different. I like mine best because its just a great 'all styles' type kite. very hard to beat wind range and still turns fast. Not as fast as C type kites or powerful to park and ride as switchies but good at both. You really gotta demo a kite if you are an experienced kiter. I'm always surprised just how different they are.

I have seen guys throwing some beaut tricks down on the 2009 nemesis and waroo. There's a guy I know who loops his 12m nemesis on most jumps and it makes the loop easily.

If you don't care about pretty colours though, try an ozone.

Pretty colours rock The Best blue/silver this year is just beautiful - Same with Cabrinha's Wildcard scheme...

Best are made from the exact same materials as most other big brands - Cabrinha make their own fabrics, apart from them i'm not aware of anyone else doing their own materials. The Cuben fibre that Best uses on their LE's is amazing stuff - that with the twist tech makes for some pretty unique and high quality design features EXCLUSIVE to Best kites...

Best really aren't one of the 'cheapie' brands anymore - In fact the Nemesis NXG is one of the most expensive kites out there this year at $2300 for a 12m!
