Hi everyone.I'm new to kitesurfing and basically new to any board sports in general.I'm a 97kg male 6ft and bought the airush lithium 12m kite and airush switch 135 board.I did 3 x 2 hr lessons in safety bay and Have been out today in Melville beach. At the moment I'm just lying in the water a lot getting on the board for 3-4 secs and sinking or falling. I'm wondering where the best locations would be for me to practice this as I'm not keen to get in anyone's way. I wanna do more lessons once I start moving to learn right of way and turning and all that but I'm wondering whether to stick with making the journey down to safety bay or if there is any good beginner spots North of the river. I'm from Scarborough so the closer the better I found Melville beach wind didnt help me today as I'm goofy footed so kept heading in for the shore on a cross on shore wind. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I also should add I haven't been outta my depth in any location yet but think I will get a lesson in deeper water for confidence. Thanks

Pinnaroo point is a common place for learners. There are also regular guys there who are fully aware learners kite there. The water is obviously a lot deeper than the river. Depending on your ability this is a reasonably good spot to learn. If you haven't conquered the self rescue or body dragging upwind yet it may be worth a few more trips down to the river. Once you have those mastered pinnaroo will be your friend. Good luck with the learning curve and don't be shy to ask other kiters on the beach wherever you go if you want advice on the spot. 90% of kiters are happy to oblige the do's and dont's of their local.
