Sure,

A Board, foot straps are handy.
A harness, waist or seat, what ever you prefer.
Bar and lines, these help keep the kite where you want it.
And a
Kite, no tears is a good start, your choice of colour, bow, 'c' or hybrid, range of 'de-power' and safety features, avoid single line kites, they don't have much power.

Did I mention a lesson or 2 could be wise, or even taking a 'trainer kite' out for a play first...

Happy days, and I'm delerious.

BoDiddly,

I think what you posted is uncalled for an straight out mean. Here's a guy new to the forum asking for genuine advice and you have to go and do that. Bringing in your own personal bias.... surely they deserve to know that even though foot straps can be handy, they are also optional

Southbound, before anyone else says it.... use the search function and go through some old posts Oh, and the whole lesson thing too.

Get the biggest kite you can buy...that way everyone on the beach knows you've got big balls. Only go out when there's sand piling up on the car while your setting up. Purchase a good pair of speedo's to kite in. Don't worry too much about a harness - cause your new two line kite won't have a chicken loop anyway. For a board, any piece of rectangular stuff you can find in a skipp bin will be fine. Screw a couple of thongs to the deck for footstraps...

Worked for a few of the guys round here....one of them will sell you a board. Bahalmas Kiteboards...(Lives in Rye)
