Thumbs Up

Hi folks,

I've got a 2016 naish pivot and (a) 2016 naish fusion bar. Snapped some lines on the fusion bar putting it out of commission for the moment (currently waiting for new lines to arrive), and was hoping to use either (b) my old blade ~2012(?) bar or (c) my friends spare ~2012 liquidforce bar.

I've measured the line distances between all bars (with no trim setup, and fully depowered/max throw - see imgur.com/iH1WQ0I ) and got the following (these measurements are all how much the leading edge is longer)

A - Naish - 41cm
B - Blade - 31cm
C - Liquidforce - 33cm

I mean, measurements are probably +/- 3 cm but it looked like a decent fit for the blade.

I've tried flying the blade bar and just used the trim adjustment to try to compensate for the line difference. However, they seem to fly like dogs. Seems really sluggish and slow to respond. Reminds me of a 2008 kite, which is no fun.

Now, the blade has what I believe is called a high-Y connection approximatelly 4m from the bar, which the naish does not (see imgur.com/pM7x3rW ). Could this be the main culprit for the flying behaviour? From the looks of it, I can just take it out of the ring and convert it to a low V. The line with the stopper ball on it is the line that becomes my safety, so this looks okay (same as Naish bar). The only thing I lose is the ability to pull on the ring single leading edge line and effectively pull on both. That doesn't seem like a big deal though.

I suppose my question is, it is safe for me to do this (try to convert to a low-V) by pulling the line out of the ring? It seems like it should be fine, and I suppose the obvious answer is to try it and see, but I figure out of an abundance of caution I'd like to ask first in an attempt to minimize the risk of launching my kite andpromptlydeath loop pulley-ing myself into a tree (probably been watching too many kitemare videos)

Are there other factors that I'm not considering? I can't think of any but if there's nothing else I've learned from kiting, it is that the gear can be very nuanced.

Thanks!

PS Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to try the LF bar yet (which is also low V). I was hoping to, but unfortunately there's no local wind conditions to test yet (I also need a and I'm about to fly with my gear somewhere. I'd like like to avoid taking both bars, so I'm kind of tossing up between which one to take.
