I've just received my new (to me anyway) Bandit III 2010 10m. Got out in a bit of swell yesterday and had an an absolute BLAST. About 15knots I guess. I ride a strapped 5'11" surfboard.
I have no complaints about the kite, but it's a bit different to my old Slingshot 9m REV, and i'm trying to get the turning dialed. I used to just pull one side and the REV did the rest.
The bar pressure is quite light with the Bandit, I do about the same thing as I used to with the REV to initiate the turn and then concentrated on doing a tidy toeside turn . I got ready for the big WHACK the rev used to give me. Completed my turn and looked up and found the kite still across the other side of the window lol. After the first mistake found i needed to keep feeling the turn on the bar all the way through the turn. But holding on the pressure seems to overpower me and stuffs up my turns. It feels like the bar needs to be 5cm wider. On the positive side riding toeside one hand was easily steering the kite an and controlling power. It's a smooth ride.![]()
Does anyone have any tips? ![]()
I use to think the same thing about the bar size.
But any it sounds to me that your rear lines are to long and thus it is responding to slow. I actually added an extra knot. All good now super quick & fun. Any way what set up are running on the kite & bar?
having had a second good ride, i'm stoked with the way the Bandit flies forward in the window and goes upwind. Running on out of the box setup with the longest front lines. No adjustment point for the back lines. Might try the extra knot! just seems as though there is a little too much depower, so with an extra knot if needed i can adjust via the depower strap.
