Recently Upgraded my F-one Bandit 5 to the awsome looking Bandit 6 in November, and had a couple of sessions in 15-22knots, But I have noted one of the wing tips flutters in the turn? This is frustrating as the kite loses half its power in the turn and is frustrating to say the least.

I have tried the following to see if this corrected the flutter;
· Adjusted the back lines in one knot on the bar – The flutter still existed and the kite was now over sheeted
· Adjusted the green line in one knot – flutter still exists and now pulls to the right
· Tried my Bandit 5 10mtr bar and lines – flutter worse and now on both wing tips (these line have had over 100sessions though)
· Adjusted the bar pressure and turning speed point on the kite from -+ (Fast turning / less bar pressure) to +- (Slow turning / more bar pressure) = Flutter still exists on the RHS (green line)
· Pumped the kite up to 12psi (well thats what the guage said....still exists)
· Turning the kite only when fully powered – worse flutter of all

Matt @ M8 has been awesome (via Email) and hope to get this sorted in late Jan when he come up to FNQ, But was wondering if any other Bandit 6 owners have noticed this??

Cheers, ash

thats a worry , i took my 10 bandit 6 out in huge wind and it was horrible but i was blaming the conditions, the 12 is just like a dream, I do hope this is not a wider issue as my old 10 did flutter but not much,

the new 6 was supposed to sort this flutter out and it has on the 12, I'll be riding the 10 this week in WA so i can see whats going on when i get the right wind.

can you keep in touch and let me know what matt is saying , is he confirming this is a design issue, i just cant see that as they test and test them before they agree the final design and i have heard nothing but good things about these kites so im really interested in your storey, and also slightly concerned after spending so much on 2 new kites again.

have you found any other reoprts on the web of this issue?.

sorry couldnt help more , I really thought it was the mad wind that was making mine flutter so much but maybe it isnt .

sorry cant help more , all i know is the kite as it comes out of the box will be at its best settings thats why they send them out set up that way.

Hey MC

My Bandit 5 10mtr is a dream and doesnt flutter at all - Like yours, its only on the RHS.

I havent tried other sizes, as i am the only one with a Bandit 6 here on the beach @ Yorkeys Knob. I havent found any other info on the web that this is a common problem, so hoping this isolated to only a few of the 10mtr's.

I have always flowen Bandits (bar a short stint with Ozone's c4's) and not to concerned as Matt at M8 has been awesome with the follow up!!

Let me know how you go with your 10 on the weeeknd!!

Have you tried laying a bandit 5 over a six and checking the bridle , if you have your five still .

They are suppose to be the same apart from the bridle being positioned differently .

Ill let you know how i go in steady wind

Rear line attachments have been moved and slight change to the bridle compared to the 5.

No issues with my 11m b6 in any suitable wind and awesome with the gusts

I flew a demo B6 10m yesterday - whilst turning it flutterd a bit (behind leading edge) on both tacks with the bar depowered as i find most kites do but when fully powered didn't notice any.

Def no flutter at the wing tips.

I agree with topple over on this if your bar is sheeted out the kite will flutter, with your bar sheeted in towards you less flutter :) the b6 actually has less flutter than the b5!

not sure on the bandits set up but the reos and catalyst have a bit of flutter, i found sliding up the bar floats and setting the stearing lines to their shortest had a huge improvement , might be worth a go, also gave the kites a bit more horse power and a much more connected feel, you wouldnt think it would make much difference but it was very noticable

I can only speak for the bandit five ( a very nice kite) but yeh it does flutter when pushed through a big loop lets say. But most of the 3 strut kites I've flown can do this I don't think it is just a bandit thing. The lithuim did this as well, but honestly didn't worry me after a while, you adjust and enjoy. Personally I wouldn't worry about it to much. Follow the suggestions to minimise then let it rip mate.

I had the bandit 5 in both 9m and 11m.
They both had flutter in the wing tips if you left them in the settings straight from the bag which was with the rear lines at the wingtips. When you bought them in one increasing the bar pressure they were much better and only fluttered through loops. Have upgraded the 9m to bandit 6. The bandit 6 has less flutter in the Wing tips out of the bag with rears at wingtips. Not flown it with them in one increasing bar pressure like my 11m is set but will be today. Am hoping it will loop right without flutter in that setting as I find this Anoying when looping. Apart from that though the kite is amazing.
The line setting straight from the bag is NOT the best setting on bandits!!!

Your kite that's pulling one direction must have line lengths that are incorrect. Or a briddle that is incorrect. Make sure you check the bar is set up evenly under the floats at the pigtails and also attach all the lines to a nail In a post to check they are even. If the bar is all good it's the briddle for sure.

Boss

Interested to you your idea settings for waves , I have a 12/10/7 combo , added two inches on the front lines made a big difference for power on the 10 and slightly more direct when it's de powered just under the clamp. Moved the back lines by 1 notch on the 12, again better response. Haven't touched the seven yet, but I'm really interested in your findings for wave set up.

They are an amazing kite no doubting that, such fun

In my opinion if all the line lengths are equal and the bar sheeted in and the kite is not over sheeted no new kite should flutter and if it is then I would send it back.

it doesnt flutter at all when resting, it only slightly flutters in its highest wind range on a depowered sheeted out turn , find me a kite a kite that doesnt , the topic started with a kite that was replaced by f one as it was a stitching issue, new kite= a1 customer service from matt at f one (distributor), this is why i buy f one, problem = fixed not like sling shot now they are so big and lost the plot with idiots in charge of the customer service line usa. Ever since the late andy regan past ss have gone down hill in this area , not so with f one they just get better.

Hey MC, Yea sent my kite back to M8 for assessment, and should hear back this week!! Matt @ F one has been great to deal with!!recommend everyone buy for M8......

To the rest of the posts - YES every kite flutters when your bar is sheeted out, But the issue with my kite was when it was sheeted in....it fluttered on the RHS wing tip only - and yes the lines were equal length!!! My kite was jsut a one off issue kite!!

Just do a North and put battens in the tips to stop the flutter.
It has the added bonus of making the kite bulky when you roll it up.

By all the responces i have had - this seems to be a one off - unless othe Bandit 6 owners have the same issue????

Small UPDATE on my kite - (as i know you have been all waiting).

So after 7 weeks of being with Matt @ M8 and the guy at Doyal Sails going MIA, Im super excited when my kite arrived back, as the wind look good over the weekend......That's where the excitement ended.

The wind @ 3.30pm was a good 15-19knots at Yorkeys Knob and was first on the water............nice little hooked in down loop and WHAT THE **** the RHS (Green wing tip) that was supposed to be fixed still flaps.........I know matt said he had tested it....But never tested it before fixing it.....and i wasn't the only one on the beach who noticed it.

Mate not happy. This was the worst outcome after waiting almost 7weeks for a result.

This kite needs to be replaced...and I'm not wanting to wait 7weeks again......and the responce for a importer.......get a local rider to test it.....

Maybe test the kite before you bought it?

I have one, it has some flutter but who cares its a sick kite that will last for years, simple bar, great unhooked, easy loops, can't have everything.
