Is it natural to get incredible lower back pain from body draggin upwind? Or do you get used to it eventually?
I had my intermediate AKS lesson last week and im back into the sport after a long dry spell, got another one booked next week...I never realised how fun this is once you start learning how ot do everything proper.
I crashed the kite LE face down in the water and took ages to relaunch, but i did it, and i lost my board and dragged upwind and found it...coincedentally if anyone finds a pair of Odyssey sunnies on the beach...Or my nuts, i slammed myself pretty hard while overpowered.
Im rambling but yeah, i guess thats natural with this much fun!
Might depend on what type of harness you have.
seat harnesses give me back pain due to an old injury but a good waist harness is magic for my back.
I know they restrict intermediate-advanced riders a bit but seat harnesses don't give you a sore lower back. The trade off if you get a big boost/loft is you may get an atomic wedgie!! ![]()
I am thinking about swapping to a waist to get more mobility in the waves, but because I sit in front of a puter all day, I fully expect to earn a sore back in the process. ![]()
Anybody got a best of both worlds suggestion??
What are the Dakine Fusion numbers like? Am I right that they can be adjusted to have the bar almost as high as a waisty? Does this significantly help in the surf?
Oh, also what is the lotto numbers theis week?
Questions, questions???
hey infindie im pretty sure you had a waist it maybe that the harness does not fit of you may have gone a cheaper1 or did u use 1 of ours
yeah, my lower back hurts after kiting, but not during a sesh and not while body dragging...
maybe your trying to drag to quickly? try slowing it down a bit.
do some stomach crunches and stretching does wonders for the back since the muscles hold your spine firmly works wonders for me during kiting or windsurfing..used to be i had back pains i wanted morphine but not anymore..![]()
I had a mystic waist harness and that hurt my back, I bought Au_rick's seat harness and now I have no problems.
So it's very much a matter of what is best for you.
Went into Airborne a while ago, Bought an 07 Prolimit Small, the next size up was for fatties i think...or maybe its me thats incredibly skinny?
I got fitted out and everything cost me $220 so it was good i think. Oh and its blue.
I did better on my Advanced lesson, I ditch my board now as a preference to draggin my legs behind me, I swear those twintips are like anchors! I ditch cause I can drag upwind incredibly well now, So much so that I enjoy it, I imagine I would look like good sharkbait while doing it though? Anyone else think that? Seriously you look like a gigantic Lure.
i got a small size 07 Prolimit. its a normal (wicked) waiste harness but it has rings to attach legs straps... i spent 15 min sowing 2 circular bits of fabric (old moto tie downs) and just tying them on. its the awesomness of a waiste harnes but when you do big airs it doesnt kill your kidneys... or balls.
i had a pro limit med size seat, it had heaps of adjustment, my boardies are 32" this thing had like a foot of adjustment strap coming off each hip, and it cut into me and would always work loose not even half way through a session, so very very uncomfortable, i would end up having enough and not wanting to go back out cause the harness was just too uncomfortable and that spreader bar that joins in the middle with that clip thing... man what a disaster of engineering... click yes its in, launch.... pop! oh no it is'nt... many times has the bar busted open.... then i got a fusion seat... unreal, five hour sessions, it does not ride up, it does not work loose, you can adjust it without having to land your kite....., use a waist harness when you wan to ride a board on waves, use a seat when to want to ride for ages on your twin tip... too easy...!
Thanks harry, All my buddies are surfies so Im hoping to go straight into the wave side of kiteing, Ive done plenty of surfin in the past so progression should be easy. Good to know I bought the right harness.
Try the new ION stealth, board short seat harness.
best harness i've ever had.
Cheers.
Keep on kiting.
