Where to head to in Asia in August, ?What are all the best kiting spots? If anyone has done a kite trip all over in all seasons please ,share your ride, about to take off for a 6 month tour and haven't decided on my first destination.
Cheers Mango
I've been to Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka in August and it was great. They have some flat water spots as well as wave spots. If you're going just for kiting you'll be good but if you're looking for anything else after your session there is not a lot to do. I took an 8 and 10m there and I'm about 70kgs and I was happy everyday. I also live in Thailand and we have a lot of good days in Phuket and Koh Samui and there is tons to do after your session but sometimes there is a lot of rain.
If just for kiting...I vote for Sri Lanka
Oh yea...I've kited in boracay and vietnam but these locations are known not to be good in August. anyone tried indonesia in August?
I have 20 k and 6 months , what you do and go?
I'd be heading to WA ;-)
Hi Ollie,
We have got steady trade winds of up to 25 knots between May and November. It's easily reached by flying to Bali and taking a morning flight from Denpasar airport to Banyuwangi in East Java. We can pick you up on the airport and transfer you to our small resort.
You will be kitesurfing at this little island:
You will be one of the first to kitesurf at this little small uninhabited atoll named Pulau Tabuhan as we are just now spreading the stoke!
Greetings Jeroen
I hate to burst your bubble but being isolated means not getting help when you need it:(
Just saying in a light of recent accident...Also, building some respect before bombarding with advertising might help.
Mui Ne Vietnam is pretty cheap and great vibe..
It's one of the few spots I'd like to head back to a few times..
If you are looking at 6 months in Asia this would be a pretty good stop for a few weeks. I went in June a few years ago.(didnt kite then but it was good for an early paddle on really small surf before the winds start up and blow all day). June is there"Winter" so its really quiet.
Hi Dbabicwa,
Just trying to share the stoke and introduce some new locations here. Although Pulau Tabuhan is quite isolated, laying in between Bali and Java, we always bring one of our boats with a crew and you will be kitesurfing with an experienced kitesurfer, either me or a friend.
Check this little clip uploaded by our Singaporean windsurf friends. The wind was solid over 20 knots (like nearly every day between May and the end of October). We were windsurfing on a 4.7 and a 5.0 and our kitesurfing guide was riding a 7 and a twin tip.
Taiwan is good in the summer. Majority of summer days we get SW or S wind 15 to 20 knots. Occasionally typhoons come and provide stronger wind and waves for fun rides.
Taiwan looks good ![]()
the two lower photos look great
You can PM me if you need Taiwan info
current kiteworld mag has a 6 page write up on Taiwan and sounds great, however im with tgcp, cheap 4wd and camping gear, Midwest and beyond, epic,
We have some of the best kitesurfing in the world in Aus
Seriously, why go to asian places where all you get is inconsistent wind, choppy sea and filthy water?
My first stop with 20k would be mid to north WA![]()
