Hey all,
I am heading over to Asia early next year to spend a couple of weeks learning to kitesurf.. just wondering if anyone has any recommendation for schools over there or top places to visit..
so far found..
Bali Kite Surf - Nusa Dua
Ocean Republic - Boracay Isle (Philippines)
Kiteboarding Asia - Pranburi or Koh Phangan (Thailand)
its my first time to Asia so any info totally appreciated :)
cheers!
The beginning of the year is the best time for wind in Asia (North East monsoon season)
, so Boracay, Pranburi, and Koh Phangan should be good, but it’s the low wind season in Bali.
From the learning perspective, my missus had some lessons on Koh Samui, Thailand, which has a nice shallow, sandy, flat water bay to learn in. (Located at the South East end of the island, with a decent size KBA school/shop there) Great spot for a beginner, but you might also want to have a look at Mui Ne, Vietnam, where the wind is a bit more likely to blow?
if by "early next year" you mean Jan-Feb, then that's the right time to be in Boracay. The flat water in the lagoon at Bulabog Beach is perfect for teaching beginners. i'll be there for a week in jan and cant wait!
Just back from Bali,
Sanur is a great place, flat water in lagoon or kite out to the reef, take a bigger kite 12m +, July/August seems best time for wind.
Two kite schools, for your own safety keep well clear of the dangerous, arrogant, no clue euros who hang around the ripcurl school and respect no-one, you'll know them when you see them.
Check out the island for a bit more wind and swell, as a wise man once told me, "failure to search is failure to find", worth a look and will be a few knots stronger.
Bali bagus ![]()
Boracay rocks !!!
See Glen at Ocean Republic or Ken at Freestyle Academy - they'll all look after you on that little island paradise...
All based on Bulabog on the otherside of the Island from White Beach which is listed as one of the top ten in the world...
@caveman - probably see you there !!!
I have a school Mui Ne, Vietnam
kite-n-surf.com
Vietnam is arguably the windest place in Asia,
Mui Ne is very choppy though, this the issue some people have with Mui Ne.
Good wind though!
But we have found a new place 2 hrs North of Mui Ne.
If you don't like Mui Ne.
If they is no wind (or in the morning) I also have STAND-UP PADDLE to keep on the water.
If you are interested i can arrange everything from airport pick up to Accomadation.
You would know about dodgey characters

So are you going to come and play with me this season or what? ![]()
I absolutely guarantee that the guy behind the Kite-N-Surf is super dodgy!!!!
Stay far from him specially if you are a female from East Europe... ![]()
Bye Jankie
