I've only eva done a downwinder from cott to trigg was just wondering whether were allowed further down wind as there looks like a nice little spot next to trigg where that boat ramp is, very shallow but mayb good for tt's!

Yes, you can go from Trigg to the third groyne South of Sorrento. You cannot land North of the third groyne at Sorrento, and you need to go out very wide beyond the flags until you pass Hillarys Marina. Next stop is Pinaroo, but there is little point going past Hillarys unless you are planning on Little Island reefs out off Hillarys as there is no waves past Little Island until Mullaloo.
Be wary of swimmers around some of the beaches along the stretch from Trigg to Sorrento, especially in summer. There can be snorkelers and swimmers along that stretch. There can also be quite a few anglers in front of the boat ramp at Trigg.

There is also suppose to be no kiting between third car park Trigg and Trigg point over the summer months. lots of nippers, swimmers and clubbies out training most afternoons in that area hard to see in the water.
It's a 300 to 400m of beach plus the flag area, after a 20km DWer makes sense to stay out of that area....
It's an interesting run with lots to see and lots of challenges but also plenty of things to hit
The water can suddenly 'suck' away to leave exposed reef when you least expect it
Keep your eyes open but it's good fun
My (assumed) understanding is that anyone is allowed to kiteboard anywhere except for designated exclusion zones. Is this correct?

Yep right snalberski but lots of 'NOT BANNED' areas are just commonsense no-go zones.
Way better to stay out of harms way than start another WAKSA vs Council (&/or Community) dog fight.
- esp where its just plain unnecesssary as a kite area.
One classic eg. in Perth is Scarbs main beach. No official ban for the area bw Brighton & Contacios but anyone who runs through the surf there is a total tool. 
And why do some insist on mixing it with the windsurfers on 'their patch' just north of Brighton. Its a tiny section kiters really dont have to use AND poleys have been there forever AND they rarely get in the way of kiters at Brighton.
Perth is a big long foreshore - with commonsense & a bit of courtesy we could just keep it all open.

Same goes for inbetween the city beach groynes. Here and scarbs, who needs to go there?

Heaps of ppl do up winders. Can be fun depending on the day/conditions etc.
most I've done is probably a couple of Kay's. pinnas to Hillary's.

Yes, I did an upwinder from Pinnaroo to Leighton on a raceboard and Zephyr. It was good fun in 7-8 knots of wind, no one else out until the downwind portion back to Pinnas where I ran in to a couple of blokes at Scarbs on XL kites.

Land at cb to let the legs recover then dwer back to base
