Hi there,
I have old kites (Cabrinha X-bow 7m, 9m both 2006 and 12m 2008) which I no longer need. They are all in decent enough condition and have bars etc. They are of virtually no monetary value in the second hand market but I am a bit reluctant to just bin them. I was wondering if anyone knows of any charities / kite programs that they would be any use to? Anyway just throwing it out there and ideas would be great.
Cheers
At KSS we operate a "Kite Salvage Yard".
Safe workable (fully checked) kites go free to kids in places like PNG.
Totally wrecked gear (or too old for safety) is pulled apart & bits are supplied when no spare part replacements are available.
ALL proceeds of the wrecking yard go to charity.
Stripped out old canopy material goes to fund raising ladies who cut them up and make pretty cool recycled shopping bags - again for charity.
All donations - kites, boards etc all very welcome.
Yep they can go to PNG.
There are a group of experienced kiters up there that look after the local kids around port moresby and down at Hula that have no chance of buying themselves.
But remember it is remote and no kite repair shops up there.
If they still fly and you want this to happen you can send to me in Newcastle, NSW, just PM me for details.
I then get them to another forum member Jayp who lives up there.
I send them to where ever he has the occasional container leaving Australia.
Also looking for old twin tips and harnesses ![]()
There are a couple of camps up there if you do a search on here.
You may even want to go on holidays there one day and see them being used ![]()
Hi guys thanks very much for your replies. I will drop them up to KSS This weekend. I am in WA so easier to get them to PNG that way. To those that PM me I will reply to all. Cheers happy kiting.
