You could probably get something that would work at bunnings. Try some plastic bulldog clips maybe. I've never tried it, but those things clamp pretty hard, so they should stay on if you avoid smashing into the ground.
I cleaned out Kitepower Geelong about 5-6 months ago so here's hoping Goshen's got some more stock since then. 
Give 'em a call. They'll post them out to you if you don't wanna drive to Geelong.
We have cliploads of clips, just call one of the Kp shops and sort out how many you want.
