Just wondering if anybody out there has ever bought a set up through these guys?

Were they ok to deal with, or did they steal all your money through pay pal

Cheers

use kiteline to quote a price to your local brick and mortar store. dont forget to do the currency conversion aswell

I asked the guy what the price was with VAT (their GST) removed and he didn't reply to that.

Switch has lines for the same price (inc pig tails) and if you need additional pig tails, you can make them yourself with line from whitworths.

Its not to buy lines for kites Sibbo, it has a whole bunch of kite gear for sale.

I'm after feedback from people that have actually used this website

i have used it.

to get quotes for your local brick and mortar store to see if they can match it. just remember to convert the currency.

if your worried about if they are going to rip you off they wont. been around for years mate. youll notice majority of the good deals are for a set SIZE of kite. the rest is rather average.

your going to get a much better deal hunting down a distributer liqouring them up at the pub launching there kite a few times and having a sausage sizzle with them tho. i wouldnt bother wasteing your time with wholesalers/retailers

Used kite-line.com several times, no issues at all.

I don't think you pay sales tax on their prices for international purchases but I bet Customs will have their band out.

If he doesn't reply to email, hit him up in Facebook... spam filter in action.

I wonder why there is no such thing like kite line in Australia? I know some ppl prefer face to face... but stores will have to pay rent and wages.. so they need to make profit making the products more expensive.

There is no place like a kite-line alike store for Australian market?

Just wondering.

Yep, thanks for that.

I think my local shops would tell me to faark off if I tried to wrangle them down to a similar price to whats on offer through this site.

Yes I know the bricks and mortar are the heart of it all...... but jeesus they are expensive! A local bloke tried to charge me $50 for some SUP paddle blade protector stuff last time I went in! Taking the piss

Anyway, cheers kamikuza for letting me know they are legit... I have bought a switch kite but think I would prefer some fuels..... it works out to be a good deal to get them through this site rather than trying to bargain down my local, then feel stink every time I see them on the water for how much of a bargain I drove.

Bought kites and boards and they chased up a midget harness for me for my son when he was 8 and I needed something real small.Thhey found me a seconds (shop soiled) harness and chucked it in super cheap with one of my orders. I try to buy local and have used the same surf shop for years for boards wetties etc but I ride Ocean Rodeo and distributors have been a bit erratic in Oz and Kite -Line have provided great service and support.

Yeah, can't imagine you'd have much success wrangling a better price... or even equivalent.

I bought several items from kite line whose prices were better. In addition they give purchase points and I ended accumulating enough to get a harness for absolutely free

Hmmm ud be surprised how much u can actually barter with local shop guys... Especially runout stuff. THEY KNOW the rrp thrown on Aussie kites by the distributors is pretty high. Just my 2c from browsing some of those USA prices.. The math didn't work out on any of it really not taking into account ud be high and dry for a long time if u had problems with the product.

I've bought 3 Fuels and two boards from them and Michael
is great to deal with! Kite's arrive quicker than buying from
Melbourne and you don't have to deal with unhelpful
local shop's that think they can fool you..

The money you save could say help you send YOUR KID's
to private school and pay your mortgage rather than
someone else's who you don't even know..

I bought a board that was $699.. Depending on where you
buy it in oz retail was $1099 or $1199?

And the best thing about Kiteline compared to all the other
US stores is you only get charged US $70 for shipping and nothing
more... I thank them for saving me thousands of dollars on
awesome new gear!

Iv thought about buying fuels from there also. But at the end of the day. You could buy loads of used fuels for that price. They haven't changed in years.

I've had 3 kites from new that I bought in 2010, and another one of the same vintage that I bought last year. What are these problems you speak of? Perhaps you need to choose better brand...

If it's not user error, then the manufacturer can deal with it. Manufacturer to distributer to retailer to customer is a total bull**** business model these days, designed so the pricks in the middle get their slice of the pie without doing anything useful.

So uv bought 4 kites in the last 6 years and that's your basis to question the integrity of my statement? Completely disregarding the hundreds of international money transaction and freight problems that could occur in ANY online purchase, manufacturing defects on brand new kites and boards are unfortunately abundant in this young industry you just have to do a quick search on the forums to confirm this.

I understand you say it's not the shops problem to deal with but in my experiance the difference is a local shop can turn around and offer u replacement product there and then on something that could potentially take months to sort out on the manufacturers end (then add the arse pain of correspondence and shipping internationally to that).

But yeah we hijacked this thread a bit and it really had nothing to to with local vs oversea shops so I'm sorry

I attempted to buy a kite from them a couple of years ago that was advertised for sale on their website, but was actually out of stock. They still charged my credit card which was a bit worrying at the time, being an online based store in another country. They did reverse the charge although the currency had moved against me between transactions. Service seemed pretty decent but I would perhaps check to make sure they have the item in stock before paying.

Looking at one of the most popular kites 12m 2016 switchblade kite only US1619 =~ Aus $2355

Kitepower website (I have no affiliation) is $2100

maybe outdated models and unpopular kites are cheaper than here but I have never seen kites cheaper on any OS websites since 2012 maybe because of the aussie dollar and anything over $1k need to add gst and customs duty (extra few hundred).

Good point, my sample size is small. I've bought a lot more than 4 kites though, all from from overseas, from a variety of places and never had problems that I could either do nothing about (**** UK Post) or that were solved the same way I would have done it at home -- email.

Do shops keep enough stock on hand to offer replacements? Wouldn't they have to hit up the supply chain to sort that out? Then you're dealing with the same issues if things taking time, especially if you want something specific...

Anyway, you're looking at the worst and the best of each option and reality is somewhere in the middle.

Yeah Kite-Line are fine, bought a couple of kites from them a few years ago when the dollar was better, they gave me a free T shirt too .
They got the kites to me quicker than the kite shops here could get them from the Ausie distributor, and it turned out way cheeper too.
Probably only worth doing now with superseded models now, as the states discounts older models much more than they do here.
