Wanting to take a trip with the bf who loves kiting. Just after some options other than hawaii and fiji and thought San Diego might be a good trip and it's surroundings.

San Diego has very light winds for the most of the time, a side trip to Baja California would be your best bet or further north to San francisco and head inland to Sherman Island for flat water bliss and cheap camping. the California coast has some amazing spots north with world class waves and f***en cold water- take a 4/3 or 5/3, sherman is warmer.
Most people in San Diego consider a 12m kite a small one

Yep - saw a few guys out when I was there a few years ago - 12m+ kite sizes. Water was bloody cold too. BF would probably be disappointed by the kiting - take him to Tijuana to cheer him up!

Born and raised in SD. PM for locations and info. Definitely kite able, don't listen to everyone else.
