Ive found some brands have sharp edges on the holes which needlessly wear the C/L line out...

The only way is to drill a bigger hole in the bar which will seriously weaken it, bad idea. Any modern 4liner will take any bar and line extensions can be made for different brands. I use a SS 17" bar for all my 3 kites. My CL is as new after 3 seasons as I dont throw it in the sand when wet and take the right kite out in the conditions that are there. Learning to edge properly rather than using the bar greatly reduces friction. It is no coincidence that experienced kiters dont have much trouble with their kit.
