Another invention about to be released - Rotatable Footstraps. What do you think and would it help? Idea seems good, but will it be another gimmick.
i could def see that being a huge plus on my surfboard although i dont think it would work on my tt .
Wow. very hard to say if it would be good or **** without trying it. But I really like the idea. I have preferred not to use straps when surfing due to the added freedom of movement. Being able to twist feet easily wold make at least a bit of difference. Its nice to be able to move a bit forward and back on the board when strapless though. Easily worth a demo IMO. be interesting to see how they go. Sure to be some improvements since its in its first season.
look good, as said above id be worried about how long they would last... would def like to demo a pair of these
there is another easy answer - you duck the straps for the wave - left or right - toesside or heelside - your choice. Unless real bumpy or real big i don't like straps - they suck.
Pretty extreme stuff.I can see why he uses a reel leash.![]()

So when you jump and don't have friction on the board what position are your feet going to be in when you land or is it a case of save the knees but break your ankles.
I have ridden (back to the beach) bindings with a missing bolt going into the deck and once the other bolt loosens it feels very dodgy on knees and ankles.
I can see it, but i can't feel it . me thinks gimmick. I like to move my feet forward and aft not just through a few degrees, wax seems best. Or if it's really on like he said keep your straps wide and loose.( ... and be like Elvis and move those hips baby) ![]()
Hi all I've never ridden strapless, just wondering how you go riding back out through the break when you need to jump the whitewater when it's 5-6ft high?
very good idea I have always wanted some more movement on my foot pads on the tT due to my strange shaped legs, my kneecaps point rather inward
Currently riding on TT. But can see the advantages of rotating footstraps. Definately innovative, and seems like a great idea for directionals, giving greater flexibility. I would love to hear what Ben Wilson thinks.
Looks like a terrible idea to me. Sand + rotating disk = nightmare. Looks like a great way to twist/roll you ankle too. Just loosen your straps right off and you have heaps of movement.
Hi,
The plate which is on the video was developed by one of my friends and I am helping him promote it.
The plate works very well and all who have tried it have been quite positive about it. He is right in the middle of going into production with it, but he has a small number of prototypes which can be tested. We can't send them out to everybody who asks, but if there is a person who is vocal and respected on this forum, we would be interested in sending a sample to him/her so that they can test it and post their experience on the forum here.
The plate should hopefully be going into production in the middle of february and should be orderable by middle-late february.
If you are interested in the plate, then you can go to the webpage www.sportsgear-solutions.com and "buy" a plate via the very simple store. You don't commit in any way and no money is charged, but we will then have your email address and will send you info when the plate is released.
Also, if you have some local shops which could be interested in stocking the plate, then send us their address/contact details via our webpage and we can send the shop a free sample for demos when we get up and running.
By the way, somebody mentioned sand, and I can assure you that it is no problem. There is lots of room between the two disks and as soon as the board hits the water all the sand is quickly rinsed out of the discs. Sand was one of the primary concerns which were taken into consideration when designing the system.
Also, somebody asked about what happens when you are in the air and your rotate your foot. There is a built in angle limit on the plate so you can't over rotate your foot. So even if you do rotate a lot in the air, then you won't hurt your foot/ankle.
Also, the suggestion was made to make your straps looser, but this means that you have a loose connection to your board. The nice thing with this system is that you have a tight connection to your board while at the same time having your foot in the correct angle.
But the best thing would be is to test it yourself (or to hear the review from somebody respected...) :-)

no one respects sandgroper3. besides he has hideous feet. But I could trial them for you. I would need a surf board with them though and a twin tip too if you want me to try them on that as well. I have my own boards but would rather not have to do any work swapping things over that way i could maximise my time kiting and then pimping for you. win win I say.
FROM THE INVENTOR
Hello guys,
thank's for all your comments, also the negative ones.
First of all: I have not been happy about fixed straps the last 2-3 years and had a possible solution in mind. The better I got in the waves, the more I wanted a clearly better strapsystem.
So summer 2009 i pulled myself together and made a durable plastic prototype.
I was thrilled, so I improved some details and got somebody to mill my 3D files out of some plastic bricks. That is the one from my video on sportsgear-solutions.com and it is still working.
I consider myself as a very experienced wavesailor making aerial 360 and even kiteloops with this rotatable footstrap plate.
I can assure you there have been no cracks and there is no wear yet, even the rubber string is still the first one.
The molding tool is right now in work, so in a few weeks I probably have "fresh items ready" .
At the start I just wanted a solution for myself, but why not letting all you people take part in more possible fun on your boards.
I WILL DO MY BEST TO MAKE IT A GOOD PRODUCT with benefits for your surfing style, so it does NOT just end as a gimmick.
Kind regards
Henning Küntzel, Sportsgear-solutions.com
That picture perfectly categorises the type of people who would purchase this product. Unfair stereotyping? perhaps.
Gimmick I'd say, go strapless or just keep your straps real loose and you will have plenty of movement.
Of course I haven't tried them but fairly sure I would rather have a solid feel for my straps rather than trying to put you foot back into a strap that has rotated.
I'm guessing you would lose a bit of drive at times without the direct fixed contact with your board.
Dear all,
since the Plate is on stock and some people have tried, there will be more reviews soon.
There are quiete positive comments on another kiteforum. So check it out.

Scroll down from the start and you will find pictures and comments.
An opinion can first be objective when you have tried the stuff.
Regards Henning
Henning kindly sent me a set to try after expressing interest, but due not having a kite surfboard to install, have passed the set on to another and hope a review will be out as soon as we get some decent wind here in SE QLD.
Initial impressions are a lot of thought and effort has gone into it. Installation documentation is comprehensive and with clear colour photos.
Looking forward to trying it.
NB - I have no affiliation with product.
