So an unexpected seabrease pulls up at 5 and I haul to the beach for a quick session. Forgot to bring my normal board. I have my 145x45 lighwind TT. Its set up with heelside small fins only.

Wind is a sweet 18-20 knots, and theres nice little lazy shoulder high waves peeling at the point.

So I'm riding these waves upwind heelside and wonder what will happen if I ride down the line finless toeside. To my surprise it was not only doable but heaps of fun!. it felt super smooth cruising down the line. Sure you couldn't slam a hard bottom turn. But you could control speed with the nice slidy drift. Then lock into the wall with your rail and just slice along. As I had heelside fins I could do a hard cutback when ever I needed/wanted to.

I did not expect that at all.

Sweeeeeeeet unexpected Stoke.

You sorta sound like the missis. When ever I reach an undisclosed unacceptable fun level I am told off for having too much fun.

I apologise for my stoke level. I will from now on aim to enjoy life less and be less stoked.

Shouldn't this be in the NZ section?

Given the amount of time you spend chasing wind I'm surprised your missus even knows what you look like.

I think it would be more like waking up, during the middle of you house being robbed, to find the burglar has stopped to give you a quick shake

I had a moment of unexpected stoke the other day. Was badly attempting unstrapped backrolls....... Launched off lip, lost board....I think it went straight up, my body did a backroll, then my board blew back into me. It ended up kind of laying across my chest and knee. I panicked and kicked it away. I nearly completely accidentally pulled off something I don't even know what it was. Anyway it's great we do a sport that you can be stoked the whole way up the learning curve

Nice

Had my first "proper" wave ride earlier this year on my Flydoor XL - no toe-side fins either. Was trying to ride like a proper surfer, and ended up riding a wave like a half-pipe all the way into the shore. With a 13m Crossbow too

Use the edge right and you can still carve turns, just don't over-do the body lean.
