Airush gave me this dinky neoprene covered piece of plastic with a warning larger than it! I suspect this allows me to let the bar go and still have the kite in the 12 position, spin the bar around to unwind lines, etc, etc. Does it? What else will it do for me???
I'm pretty happy riding upwind now, edging and controlling the depower using the strap on my Flow. Any tips on how to use the stopper properly will also be appreciated - I assume you have to move it based on conditions, the length of the depower rope, etc. Thanks in advance.
that little stopper ball lets you shorten your bar throw, its very easy to move around on the fly and i find it a blessing when riding for ages because u can just rest the bar against it and let your arms rest whilst riding..
the only thing is it stopd the kite from having that full throw wen you get in troubles and ditch the bar..
I was running my safety leash on the chicken loop the other day and that little stopper ball somehow managed to move down and lock my bar in the fully powered position at the same time that my loop popped off my harness and i dropped my bar.
Lets abbreviate by saying that sand can be extremely abrasive to skin.
But i guess thats my own fault...
Hey Foosh,
The little stopper ball slidy thing is used to prevent the bar from going to full depower out of arms reach. If you are comfortable and confident in your riding ability to do without full depower and maybe use 70%, then the stopper is a great piece of gear.
I would remove the neoprene cover and then toss the cylindrical, lower section in the bag and keep it there. The stopper works fine without it and allows you to be able to push the bar away, past the stopper in times of need, and will also slip and depower in massive loads ie huge gusts and kite loops etc. This is how we set up all of our stoppers and they work great like that.
Just make sure when you put the stopper on, that the bevelled or pointed end of the stopper points downwards, towards the bar and not the kite, otherwise it wont work properly.
If you are up in the northern part of Perth, drop in to see us on the beach and we'll give you a hand, it only takes a few minutes tops.
Good winds,![]()
just put it on and leave it up the top so it makes no difference and then when your having a good day and wanna give it a go pull it down a bit and then a bit more ect
a mates flow didnt have one and i couldn't stand it more than 2 minutes
just make sure your not connecting into your loop with the leash, there are better spots for it
